The object to attending a military academy is to graduate as an officer in the military. Westpoint and Annapolis give schooling and require graduates to serve at least a six year contract for the school.

It is true, but you can always pay your way out of your commitment. This generally only happens if a cadet gets drafted into the NFL because the cost of a West point education is upwards of $200K+. All the military academies must implement this kind of requirement because they invest so much money into each cadet. The Air Force Academy used to require 4 years of service, 8 years for nagivators, and 10 years for pilots. I believe the requirement has changed for all positions since then.

Free college....I don't think so......nothing is free, however the Boys School on the Hudson provides the best education that money can't buy!! You "pay" for the education by serving your country...sounds good to me!!!!
