Update 3:

This list isn't quite perfectly edited by myself. I tried to basically edit the Top 20 bands and the last 20 bands on the list. Everything else in between is a little questionable.

Ha. Yours is a slap in the face to Kerrang's.

I didn't see the Kerrang 100 list so I don't know if yours is better BUT I can't agree with any rock list that doesn't have Foghat in the top 100 somewhere.

Foghat was one of the best rock bands ever and should be in at least the top 20!

The Scorpions, The Kinks, Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, Credence Clearwater Revival, Frank Zappa, Krokus, Dokken, Tesla, and Foreigner should also be on the list before

    The Cars or Styx!

Excellent list Roxel 100 times better than Kerrangs top 100 list of Kool-Aid bands.

    Source(s): Kudos!
  • Well I can't personally compare your list to that kerrange list cos I tend to not pay attention to what others think is good and not good music. Your list obviously is based on your taste of music but may I suggest that you prioritise your list and give respect to where respect is due. Led Zep is a popular band but what have they done to the music form? You put Never More and LOG in front of bands who started the revolution [ Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Megadeth,Slayer, Testament, Pantera, Death and ACDC] and on top of that you list Hendrix and Floyd further on down the line. Hendrix changed the way a guitar should be played and if it wasn't for him we'd probably still be playing power cords like the way they are playing now. No bands will ever make music like Floyd . There will never be any like Hendrix and Pink Floyd. And where is Type O ....? Lol!!!!

Nice, although Dream Theater can technically outplay any of the bands in your top 20. They're just weak on vocals. Also, you should have put Queen and Van Halen a lot higher. Freddie Mercury was the best vocalist, and front man of his generation.

The Clash should be before The Ramones and Sex Pistols. And I feel like this list is biased towards metal....but whatever. I mean, The Beatles at 42? There's something wrong with that.

And Bob Dylan is not a band.

And there's at least 10 bands on there I have never heard of. To be considered the greatest, I think most music people, like myself, should have at least HEARD OF YOU before. I mean, who the flip is Axxis? And Falcolner? Or Firewind?

But it's nice to see SOMEBODY giving Queens of the Stone Age their props. I LOVE that band....

No question babe, you got the good bands,KerraNG is a good mag\ and stuff but babe it's nothing compared to this,it must have taken you a long as time to write all of this down,so thanx for taking the time to doing so

    =)

  • Some questionable calls between 20-40 but for the most part its good to see a list that takes talent and not record sales into account.

    A+

Good, but there's no way bands listed before Machine Head can beat them, like System Of A Down? Or Disturbed?

And Metallica should be in the top 10, not 32nd.

Great list. Great mix of old and new. You're missing a lot of very, very cool older stuff that you may not have even ever heard. Check out Triumvirat, Armageddon, MSG, Return to Forever, Camel. There's a start. Expand your mind, man.
