DVI questions?
Hi, i bought a new vid card with dvi-i outputs, it came with dvi-vga connectors, which is good since i currently dont have dvi cables. Now I'm wondering if having this dvi to vga converter is the same as using a dvi cable? If not, im gonna buy a dvi-d cable (my monitor only supports this) and i was wondering also if a dvi-d cable would work with a dvi-i output on my vidcard
my monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8...
my vid card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N8... (both connectors are dvi-i and monito rsupports dvi-d only)

Using a DVI to VGA adapter is NOT the same as straight DVI. You're converting the signal to analog. For most smaller LCDs (anything under 20") you likely won't notice a difference. Any decent quality monitor should have shipped with a DVI cable as well. Don't feel the need to spend more than $20 on one if you do. The only difference between DVI-I and DVI-D is the little crosshairs surrounding the blade in the connection. A DVI cable will fit into all standard DVI connectors but you'll notice the DVI to VGA adapter can in no way work on the back of your monitor, only the back of your video card.
