Waitress, or work at one of the hotels.
Have you ever considered working on a cruise ship? Theres prob not any in a small area like that, but a lot of cruise ships hire young people to work aboard for the summer. Its a pretty popular job and Ive heard its a lot of fun. Maybe you could look into that.
*You'd have to check about the age though...Im not sure if they hire as young as 16 but they may.

You could be a waitress, work at a place like Dairy Queen, be a hotel/motel cleaning person, if you can cook, you could try to get a job doing that ( for some reason they usually hire guys ). You could set up a babysitting service for tourists
If you know someone who has a tourist boutique, they might hire you, but you have to ask.
You could advertise as a dog walker for tourists who bring their pets. Ask the motels if you can put up signs for babysitting or dog walking.

Most shops, especially bigger ones, and fast food places are really good at giving jobs to teenagers and training them well. If I were you, I would print off a bunch of resumes and hand them around. I would think you would have to be older to work in a hotel but the only way you can know is if you go and ask.

A fast food chain and grocery stores are your best bets or any other amenities you have around in your town like amusement parks OR the small boutiques you mentioned would probably be available too. I think you have to be over 21 to work at a hotel so I don't think you working at a hotel is a possibility.

I manage a hotel, and our front desk employees do *not* have to be 18 to work there -- but be prepared for high standards and more demanding guests (or customers) than you could even start to have in retail! It's stressful -- but fun. How about a hotel's gift shop? Or a hostess at the hotel restaurant? Or any restaurant for that matter?

You should go around and ask/drop off applications. be sure to put that you are interested in hotel management when you go to college. even if this isn't true, it may help you snag a good summer job. if you want to work in a boutique, tell them you want to study retail, etc. whatever it takes to get the job.

Apply for a summer job with your school board. Some school district allow teenagers with work permits help clean, paint and do things around the schools during the summer.

Deliver newspapers, baby-sit, mow lawns, rake leaves, you can also run errands for some elderly people in your neighborhood, such as if they need something form their local grocery store and if you could walk down and get it for them, chuck E cheese might higer, you could work in a local grocery store as a bag boy or cart pusher, resturaunt or banquent halls might want servers. Check your local wanted ads.
