You should plant big trees outside your office...and your house...like Neem, Mango, Peepal (the trees should be a bit far from the building...mostly trees that give lot of shade, those that are part of the local bio-diversity...
These will give lots of cool air. Also you can grow creeper vegetables like pumpkin, bottlegourd etc..on the ground .and take the creeper over the terrace...these creepers will keep your place cool...
Inside Industry - I don't know...
But generally you should have good ventilation, so you donot have to use lights in the day time...use Khus tattis in the windows, and spray water on them so that you get cool air...

If you want shade, the best way to go is to plant some maple trees as they give the best shade when in summer and lets the sunlight thru in winter. however i am not entirely sure whether it would suit in india.
Deciduous trees that loses their leaves each year offer one of the best ways to cut home cooling costs. When selectively placed around a house, they provide excellent protection from summer sun by shading roof, walls and windows. A mature well-placed deciduous shade tree can reduce cooling costs 20 to 40 percent. After the leaves drop in autumn, deciduous trees permit winter sunlight to reach and warm the house.
Native trees that can grow with the least care needed would do best!
if you need something quick (as trees take a while to grow) vines around the windowsill would do quite nicely. hanging shrub plants or pots plants are aso ideal around outer side of the window.
good luck :)

Neem, Peepal and Banyan trees.but these trees are huge and occupy lot of space.
Gulmohar trees are attractive. They have flaming red flowers which add colour to the vicinity. They are of moderate stature and grow easily.
Ashok trees. They don't occupy lot of space and can be trimmed according to your requirement.
Champa trees. They are tenacious. Don't need lot of water. they have either cream or pink coloured fragrant flowers.Initially they look like bushes, which gradually become delicate small trees.

Ask the locals and observe the plants that grow best to provide the best shade. Watch the animals as they know more than humans how to stay cool in their environment. Check the plants do not grow too vigorously to destroy your house or invade it with their tendrils.
