I was in band (concert and marching seasons) for all six years of junior and high school.

First chair flute/piccolo for all but the first of those years.

I was also in Drama Club.

I was the typical nerd who would rather DIE than have anything to do with sports stupidity. I loved marching season except for having to attend the frikken football games. Being from Louisiana though, at least we got to march in the New Orleans Mardi Gras parades. Never for a moment did I consider joining band in college, as it would mean attending more football games and I had had MORE than enough of that, thank you. In five years of university I never attended a single sporting event. THANK GOD.

I wish they would ban varsity sports from all high schools, colleges and universities so that their admission standards aren't lowered by a bunch of people who by in large shouldn't have even passed junior high. I know there are some exceptions, but dammit, if the only way you can get into college is sports, YOU DON'T BELONG IN COLLEGE. My university, and therefore the degree I earned from it, is devalued every time they lower admission standards to give the next knuckle-dragging basketball "star" a scholarship. Instead, they should let educational institutions EDUCATE people and have sports colleges where it's nothing but sports and you don't even have to be able to spell your name if you don't want to.

Source(s): Ahhhh, the fun we had in the back of the band bus on the way back from away games...

Why am I not surprised Lori was the Homecoming Queen? She's so da*mn cute! Lucky for her ... I'm straight!

Yep .. yep. Marching band (flute and piccolo), which progressed to Tall Flags my junior and senior year. Sang in the choir, acted in a few plays, played soccer, got in a few fist fights to prove myself (that just comes natural to the Irish of course), and kissed the Homecoming King.

Okay ... not really him, but Lori just got me all inspired.

I did kiss my share of cute boys though! That does count as "something else" right? lol ;-)

    Peace ...

I'll bet you were known as an upright member of the band. I try to play the synthesizer but the extension cord kept tripping everybody. Our fall program was outstanding.

I wasn't in the Marching Band... I was in Big Band... played tenor sax.... but in senior year I had to work after school and on weekends, so I wasn't in band anymore.

Yes, I was in the marching band. I was also a cheerleader, played basketball, thespian, newspaper, gymnastics & dance team and was the homecoming queen.

    I was everything...

Varsity Football...stoner in the parking lot...

Varsity Baseball...long hair, and was good, but didn't really care for the brainlessness of my fellow jock brethren...lovable gorillas that they were...

Varsity Tennis...number one in my high school, and played State Championships against Asian professional high school tennis players with their own Ninja Tennis Coaches, and "By God!..."

Those cool Asian dudes kicked my oz...

(Because I didn't have a Ninja Tennis Coach, and I was always very high on some genuine Northern California Green Buds back then...Ah! Those were the days!)

I did something else. I wrote a weekly column for the school paper and also did a weekly report on our cable TV show.

The Principal and staff were afraid to see me headed towards the office..especially when I had a smile on my face. Oh well.. I had fun..

Yeah. I was in the "Varsity Drag" club. We used to dress up in drag and cheer on the looser football team. Dave R. was better looking than any of the girl cheer-leaders. Not saying much though.
