Why is the media giving Mccain a FREE RIDE? He has made such HUGE mistakes over the last week?

I think we can look at his mix-up in one of two ways. Either McCain is just really showing his age, and he can't remember which is which (shiia/sunni).

OR

This is the lead up to the justification for the invasion of Iran. If you publicly say things enough times, they start to stick. I think Bush's assertions about Iraq, WMDs and Alqaeda are adequate proof of that.

As for why the media is giving him a pass?

It's better television, better ratings and more contrived drama. The fight between Obama and Hillary sells more lemonade.

It's sad. There is no excuse, only an examination of why it's happening and what social/financial factors influence the media.

Let's be honest, the media is no longer an independent, element of our society, responsible for disseminating information to an informed electorate and acting as a watchdog over the government.

They are a business, highly conglomerated, intent on making the most money possible AND maybe, depending on how much of a conspiracy theorist you are, influencing politicians to allow them to conglomerate MORE and make MORE money.

If we want to change this, we need to change FCC regulations, and return to pre-Regan levels of media diversity.

Because telling someone you got shot at , and had to run for cover once the plane landed in Bosnia is an outright LIE ! Making a mistake while speaking , and then going back and admitting you made a mistake while still in the same interview is not even in the same context of a "Clinton LIE ". Saying that she had to go to Bosnia instead of Slick Willie because it was too dangerous , so you send your wife , your daughter , and a comedian ( all without bullet-proof vest for protection from the so called "danger" ) She said she and her gang didn`t have a formal welcoming , that they were rushed to waiting cars` , while avoiding the sniper fire !! There was a welcoming ceremony , and she was not rushed off under a hail of sniper fire !! She is a LIAR ! Give it a rest !!! Maybe you aren`t watching CNN enough if you think McCain's` mistake isn`t getting covered ? She lied about being named after Sir Edmund Hillary , she lied about being involved in Irish Peace talks , and you and your`s accepted all of her lies as the gospel without checking for the validity of her LIE`S .. She would still be swearing on the Bible that those stories were true , unless she hadn`t been caught with her pants` further down than Slicks !! There`s your free ride !!

McCain,,, I wasn't there, I heard the mistakes made, and

it was a bad day for him.. But John has a lot of good days

in fact a hell of alot more than Nobama and Hitlery together.

some errors and mis spoken comments,, In fact one comes

Because McCain pointed out a similar mistake made by Obama. Something about meeting the "president" of Canada. But there is no president in Canada, only a prime minister. Since it was Obama's Camp that attacked him about it.

They did report that, you heard about it and so did I. Then they said that if Obama had said it, it would have been HUGE. (At least in the report where I heard it) But since everyone knows McCain knows everything, video showing he doesn't doesn't matter. Part of the reason they are not reporting on him so much because he is not in a tight race right now.

Excuse me if I say this, and it is NO OFFENSE to anyone--but who controls the media in the United States? That in itself should be the answer. If I actually name it, I'll get a violation notice or two and kicked out of the forum, but the fact is that they hold extreme wealth in this country, that they also get 3 billion annually from this country....and I do not think that most people would agree with that if they knew. The media has an agenda nowadays---owned by guys like Murdoch, super-, filthy rich and with no interest of changing things because then he'll have to pay taxes. So, there is an agenda, and the agenda is to portray the republicans as positive as possible, and to portray the democrats as the evil.....

Yes, McCain said something stupid and wrong. However that's a huge difference from the 20 years of supporting a racist bigot and only talking about the concerns of the"black community."

I am a Dem, but I think the media is having more fun watching Hillary and Obama destroy each other. McCain will have his turn once the Dem nominee is chosen.

You answered your own question; McCain is not currently running against anyone, which leaves the press to only do their articles about one republican candidate. Good or bad exposure is the key to advertising. In other words; more people are seeing McCain, and many don't see the mistakes or mis-speaks...

You're comparing tiny mistakes to listening to and agreeing with twenty years of America hating , white hating , lies about the government bringing in drugs to poison blacks , same with the AIDS bacteria , and a lot of other hate sermons .

It's like comparing a guy robbing a bank with a kid stealing a cookie from his mother .
