My HCG level has dropped.?
My first test was 98, then 130, then 4 days later 129. My progesterone was 8.1. My doctor said he expects a miscarriage. I dont have any cramping at all, or spotting. Nothing. My question is, is there really nothing that can be done? Why doesnt he test to find out why this happened so it doesnt happen again, or can it be prevented? I guess I am grasping for anything.

there really is nothing he can do, if your progesterone were low he could correct that but yours looks fine, its on the low side of normal but for you hcg levels its fine. I don't want to give you false hope but if your not spotting or cramping you might be ok. Have them check again in a few days, it could have been a lab error. That being said dropping hcg level almost always indicates a miscarriage. But, once you deal with the loss (if you even have to) at least you know you can become pregnant, early pregnancy loss does not indicate there is anything wrong with you, it actually mean you are fertile and this one just didn't "take". Hugs, and prayers and baby dust to you. Good luck

I had a similar situation. Your HCG level should roughly double every two to three days in a normal, viable pregnancy. 130 to four days later being 129 sounds to me too like an early miscarriage - but a repeat would confirm this. I am so sorry. I just went through this in January. Hopefully, if you have miscarried, you will get your period again when it would normally come and you can try again! Good luck, I hope everything turns out for you!

There are a number of variables you have to consider. It's true, when your levels are dropping, there's not much you can do but wait for the inevitable.
When it comes to why you may be miscarrying, you CANNOT blame yourself. Sometimes there are small bacterial infections that stop the embryo from being able to absorb all of the nutrients from the pacenta that is forming, therefore causing miscarriage. Is this your first pregnancy? If so, this could be another cause. Sometimes, there are no difinitive answers. My best goes out to you, and I wish you all the best. If this pregnancy does not turn out for you, just know that you will be blessed with a healthy happy child eventually.
