    Thine Definition

It sounds like you're reading from the King James Version or possibly the New American Standard (depending on the year). What may help you is to look up the references you're studying in different versions. Go to the website below. If your using KJV, try the New KJV. It took out the theess and thou's.

Thou and thee are old English forms of "you". Thou is the nominative form, as in the subject, "Art thou hungry?" or "Thou art the man". Thee is the object, as in "I love thee" or "Did the sword hurt thee?". Thy is the singular form of your, like "Thy hands are soft as silk"; thine is the plural, as in "thine efforts are not in vain". One exception, though, as the King James translators used Thine fairly often when speaking to God.

A parallel translation would be a great help to you, if these older forms are giving you trouble. Also, web sites like Blue Letter Bible (one of my personal favorites) has links so you can compare various translations. It's at http://www.blueletterbible.org/ Have a go at it!

Well, if the old English confuses you, you can always buy a Bible written in today's language.

Thee and Thou are formal forms of "you".

Thy and Thine are formal forms of "your" and "yours".

    Art is formal for "are".

It's all old archaic English, that very few people (even the Queen herself) use any more. I agree, it can get a tad bit confusing.

I never really cared about lineage, and all the "begat"'s in the Bible put me to sleep. I really don't care that so-and-so "begat" this one, who "begat" that one. Just tell me the darned story already, before I forget what I was supposed to be reading in the first place!

    Brother,

Deeper spiritual meanings of you. Did you know that you is in Genesis 1:29 twice? There is a prescription in order to gain, context, that I have found in Isaiah 28:10:

For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little:
