Ughhhhhh!!! Microsoft Word 2007 documents won't open in previous versions of MS Word! Please HELP?
I need to send my resume to a recruiter who is working off of an older version of MS Word. I made my resume in MS Word 2007 so it is a .docx file. How can I make it a .doc? Please...step by step...I'm not super techie. Thanks

Click that top left windows button and go to the part that says "SAVE AS"
In the menu that appears you'll see one that says Microsoft 97-2003 Document, that's the one you want to use.

Open up your doc, office button in the corner then Save as. Just below where you type the file name there is a drop down menu. Click that and there is a .doc option.
Also, you can download a compatibility viewer for office 2003/XP where you can open word 2007 (.docx) files. I shall edit it in when I find the link. I think there is a way so it saves as a .doc by default too which I shall post in when the computer with office 2007 makes a return.
Good luck and hope this helps!
EDIT: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?Fa... Here is the link for the download of the compatibility pack to edit word office 2007 docs in office 2003. Just download and install like you would with any other program.

Open the document, then click on the office button (big circular button) on the top left of the screen. When the drop down box opens, click on save as, and when the drop down box for that opens, click on "Word 97 2003 document". This will save it in the older version of Word for others and still allow you to enjoy the looks and conveniences of Word 2007.
Also, if you will open a blank document, click on the big button again and in the drop down box click on "Word Options", you can change the settings to save all your documents in "Word 97-2003 document".

Open up your resume.
Click on the circular, glowing symbol thing in the upper left corner.
Hover the mouse over the option that lets you save and a menu should open up.
Click on the option that lets you save in earlier version of Microsoft Word.
This newer version takes some getting used to.

Well the problem happened with all who use MSW 2007
You can do it so easily
Copy and past the docx to Notepad and then paste it to the normal system
Its the only way
Forget 2007+ versions of MS
Its just waste of time

What you can do is open your document using your computer and re-save a second copy as .RTF or Rich Text Format. You may lose some of the Formatting, but the person will be able to read it on their end. Good Luck.
