How can some folks say no one can be born gay?

How do you explain men who have been effeminate their whole lives, even as boys? How can you explain women who are masculine their whole lives, even as girls? How do you explain men and women who have physical charactiristics of the opposite sex? Please, do not tell me what one minister told me once. He explained that the origianal sin we inherited from Adam and Eve because of their fall from grace in the Garden of Eden is so ingrained that it has effected the gene pool. Thats why some people act and even look like the opposite sex. That even though they actually felt more comfortable with gay sex that they should not do it, its a sin. I asked him if he were asked to stop being heterosexual could he. I don't buy it. Some folks are born gay! What say you?

Update:

Hey, WannaG! I found it interesting about what you said about distant fathers. One of my childhood friends had a very, very distant father. He came out to me when we were in our early 20's. I actually suggested to him that was "why" he was gay , the distant father thing. I mentioned maybe he was looking for the positive male relationship he missed as kid. I am straight as can be and my father was distant. Why then does this searching for male companionship manifest itself in some guys by "choosing" to be gay while in others it does not. There MUST be something different about them which allows them to be comfortable with having sex with men and being genuinely attracted to men. The thought of gay sex is in no way appealing to me.

The reason the religious bigots say that is because they need to justify the weight of their own warped and tainted beliefs about homosexuality. The shorthand explaination for this (and I came from a Conservative Baptist family, school and church, so I know exactly what I'm saying) is:

Supposedly, it is a choice because everyone was born straight. When we argue that we've felt this way since we became aware of our sexuality, they claim that our environmental surroundings, or our distant father/mother or overbearing mother/father (corresponding choices for gay men/lesbian), or an "evil spirit" led us astray from what we are intended to be, and that if we really wanted to, really really wanted to, we can change back to straight. Of course, they trundle out the Leviticus verse that supposedly backs up their claim as to why we are "abominations", just for good measure.

One thing that always stops them is when I ask:If you're not gay, how would you "know" so much about being one? They start stammering, and mouthing expletives, and that big speech about "sinners are known by their deeds", blah blah blah, when in truth, the reason they react violently is because, deep down, they know they have no moral right to pass on judgement on something they don't know anything about, will never experience prosecution for being who they are, and yet have to continue persecuting us to "save face".

It is one argument that is so convinced of its righteousness that it cannot see past the injustices and bigotry that it foists upon other people, by virtue of their sheer intensity of belief in this thinking. They cannot see anything else as another way, convinced that they themselves "know the way" and "how it's supposed to be". This is the reason why I am so disgusted with organized religion; no one even bothers asking the questions, they unthinkingly follow like a herd of sheep (my apologies to the sheep world) just because "the pastor said so, it must be right". Like moths to a flame.

Having wasted many years in the gay life I can tell you it's a pretty easy read and No, I don't buy the "You're born that way" and here is why...After meeting thousands of LGBT's the one elephant in the room is always the lack of interpersonal relationships between key people in their lives and or emotional, physical and mental abuse. I have proved this theory in gay bars and have been referred to as a mind reader. All you need to do is walk up politely to someone in a gay bar and after a minute or two of chit chat break out the insights of:"You must have felt isolated growing up, a loner who had trouble making friends and the friends you did end up making 99% of them hurt you. Your dad was distant an emotionally unattached or not there at all and your mom tried hard but didn't know how to connect with you." I would NOT wish gay on my worst enemy. You can come up with all the darwin theories you want about new gene studies and this and that. What you fail to see is even if there is a gay gene what gays really want is a biological excuse to stay broken as people. If being gay was so acceptable why has it been one of the most destructive lifestyles ever? If suicide don't get you depression, alcoholism, drug abuse and STDs will since those things are the source of gay pride? don't believe that? gay church=gay bars. the gay texts are mags and porn with people who are using poppers and celebrating other drug abuse (PNP barebacking is not a str8 past time or chat room heading). So even if you get the answer you want word for word that will not enlighten you to be happier as a person, make you have more self esteem or give your existence the joy you seek because it's you who has to change and not the world changing to you. Which by the way is what the gay agenda is all about-"cater to my selfish needs and let me not give the same honor and respect to others as we self-righteously demand." That's how I can say no one is born gay. Physical proof to me does Not give a license to excuse behavior. It seems more environmental than anything. One figure conspicuously absent from the lives of a vast majority of gay men is what? A real father. If you can't see how the two link I think you need coke bottle glasses. If it makes you feel better to blame genes and not bad single parenting mixed with less than stellar surroundings, lack of opportunity and not being taught the virtue of hope then I would also say it was something other than the obvious.

I say people are born gay yes, but their physical appearance has nothing to do with being gay. Some girls are tomboys, some men are metro sexual. physical characteristics have nothing to do with being homosexual. its just genes. so i disagree with you there. People are born gay because thats how they were born yes, but the reasons i would give to support you main question...."How can some folks say no one can be born gay?" would be that why would people want to choose to live in a world where they are hated. Why would any one choose to be discriminated against, why would some one choose not to have the same rights as some one else? those are the reasons that support your question, in my opinion.

You can't help your sexuality, period, next subject. How about helping Africa or something?

Oh yeah, those religious bastards don't care about anything else but gays.

(He explained that the origianal sin we inherited from Adam and Eve because of their fall from grace in the Garden of Eden is so ingrained that it has effected the gene pool.

Wow, that guy is a total nut case... Like mixing religion and evolution or something)

I think it is a pointless argument.

    A) You can also argue that people are born gay bashers...unless you choose to make a completely arbitrary distiction between behaviors you like and dislike.

    B) "Moral" and "Natural" are antithetical concepts. Of course a gay person's nature is to be gay. A rapist's nature is to rape. So we must then accept rape.

    C) Sexuality alters and fluctuates throughout life...it is not an absolute from birth.

    All gays are born gay!

People don't turn gay because of a bad youth or because they can't get someone from the opposite sex!

As you said to the minister...stop being heterosexual...that's an impossibility to.

Why do people keep saying this? Maybe because of ignorance, because they are scared for the unknown,...

    It's a good question.

Let's assume for a moment, that someone's born of color, or they have a disease. They can't change that, right? They are born with it. It's genetic.

Homosexuals can and do change their sexual behavior. There are MANY stories online of a homosexual being and staying heterosexual. That's not possible if homosexuality has a genetic cause.

Caveat: i'm no longer a Christian and don't share such ideals (which contain unique sin). i think of it quite is approximately heading off cognitive dissonance (apologies for flashing returned to Psychology one hundred and one). i do no longer think of the unique-sin theory might artwork, simply by fact as I comprehend Christianity, you get saved from that sin by utilising accepting Jesus and the regulations of Christianity. It does no longer be alright to circulate to church on Sunday and be forgiven for being homosexual after which turn around and... be homosexual returned on Monday. The Christian bible says it quite is incorrect, and in case you have faith that, how are you able to have faith God might create somebody to be incorrect/sinful and stay that way devoid of wish of fixing? i think of Christians who have faith human beings are not born homosexual might tend to consider Ms. female interior the 2d reaction above. in the event that they think of pertaining to to the "habit" venture as a substitute of the "identification" venture, then they are able to make a reality that suits into that particular Christian paradigm. in the event that they think of pertaining to to the "identification" venture, they are able to't, so as that they do no longer think of approximately homosexuality as a sexual identification. this is my proper wager.

I 100% believe that people are born gay, people who disagree are just being ignorant, they are just uncomfortable within themselves...
