when scans do not work how can I remove spyware and adware?

I have spyware and adware in my pc and have scanned 100000 times to remove these. I have used windows live one care, spybot, adware, and hijackthis...they all say those are removed but then those come back usually within a few hours. I can not seem to remove these! It's making me a mad person...i need my pc to work (I am self employeed and work from home) i do not have a windows disk so I can not reinstall windows- I am obviously not very computer saavy, in fact I am a huge moron when it comes to pc things. Is there ANY WAY to removethese things permanantly?(easily)

They are making my computer very slow and windows and word and other things are not responding like a million times daily. Also, how much damage can these things do to my pc or to my data?

Update:

I use firefox, I do not even know what Thumbdrive is, i know only that the sans are sayin they are spyware and/or adware and i have cleared my temporary internet files.

by the way- this started many months ago and continues to just grow worse:(

Update 2:

it's a presario 2200 laptop using firefox

I am willing to bet, that most if not all what is being detected are simple tracking cookies.

Cookies are just small .txt (text) files that by themselves cannot hurt your computer. Cookies are "set" by almost EVERY web-site that you visit, on every visit. You can delete all your cookies today and by tomorrow you will have dozens again just be visiting web-sites.

Cookies do NOT slow down a computer, at least the first million or so that you might have on your computer! Any computer slowness issues are never caused by cookies.

They are not a virus or spyware, but SOME people consider "tracking" cookies to be an invasion of privacy.

These tracking cookies are "3rd party cookies" from advertising servers. They can track your movements around the web in order to deliver to you customized, targeted advertising.

It all depends on ones personal level of paranoia, whether one considers tracking cookies some kind of threat. Some anti-spyware programs do not even report tracking cookies as even a minor threat.

If these tracking cookies DO bother you AND you are were using Internet Explorer for a browser, a simple change of a setting can let you permanently block all 3rd party (tracking) cookies. (Much easier then constantly removing them!) Go to tools > internet options > privacy > advanced > check-mark "override automatic cookie handling" > third party cookies > tick "block" > ok > ok. I have no idea how to do the same in the Firefox (ugh) browser, but I am sure it can be done.

Children are about the only people that are always nervous about cookies. Because cookies are an easy way for Mommy and Daddy to find out exactly what their darling 'lil runts have been looking at on the web.

Personally, If I happen to remember it, I will delete my cookies every 6 months or so :-)

Cookies are much ado about nothin'.

    Best of luck.

I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following linkhttp://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

    1. Get a good anti virus like avast and anti spy ware like ad-aware.

    2. Deep scan you PC.

    3. Don't visit gamble sites or porn sites.

    4. Only connect to the thumb-drive once the scan is over.

    5. Go to Add/Remove programs and check if there is any unknown software like dialers etc. If yes then remove them.

    6. And never turn off your anti-virus or anti-spy-ware and keep them updated everyday.

If any unknown folder or software is not removing, try going into safe mode and then delete that file/folder.

If you're system is very slow due to these spy-wares then format your system and install the anti-virus and anti spy-ware first, before going online.

    - have you clear up any Internet temporary data?

    - Do not attach your Thumbdrive or Hp to Computer first because may be your Thumbdrive is the source.

    - how do you know taht your computer is infected with adware or Spyware?

    - use Firefox.

Lavasoft AdAware SE own is unfastened. Spybot S&D is unfastened. They the two come across and sparkling, yet do no longer evade. you might have greater beneficial than one anti-secret agent ware on your equipment, yet in user-friendly terms one antivirus software to be useful. make certain which you do constantly get definition updates. i come across Norton antivirus to be a source hog. i exploit lighter products like Avast, AVG or F-Prot for antivirus.
