Is there a Double Standard in America?

Today on the view, one of the ladies said that "America hasn't heard Rev. Wright's statements as a whole and that to call Rev. Wright a racist is appaling". Don Imus calls the Rutgers Women Basketball team a bunch of "hos" and gets labeled a racist even though most of America hasn't heard most of his statements in the past. If Rev. Wright were white, would he have been not only labeled a racist, but, been condemned by the liberals for saying them and have been barred from ever being in public again?

**Asker's note: In no way, shape or form am I in favor of what Mr. Imus said, I believe he got what he deserved, but, if all men are created equal, shouldn't they get judged equally?

Update:

Actually, I don't watch the view, my wife watches "The Soup" on E! and I caught the clip of Elizabeth Hasselbeck trying to defend her views and being called an idiot.

Update 2:

Sticksyourass's:

I'm one of those "kids" that President Bush sent off to war. I'm glad your proud of your Cherokee Indian heritage as you should be, but because I'm a "White Monkey" doesn't mean that I should apologize for something that my ancestors did over a century ago. I'm proud of my heritage and where I've been and where I'm going. I've fought besides whites, african americans, indians, asians and all that I've fought with in my year in Iraq I consider closer then family. I don't care what color you are, I just want to know that at the end of the day, you're trying to make the society a better place and not tear it apart with racist blasphemy.

Yes a double standard does exist.

The reason is, (so called) Liberals do not have the ability to think intelligent thoughts or follow arguments, so if you pose to them your question, they will run in mass off the edge of a cliff, aka Lemmings!

Yes, most of the news agencies in this election have turned into little more than propaganda machines for the democrats, and this proves you can literally buy the White House, the interesting thing is when you look at how much more money was spent by the democrats, how much good coverage Obama got while the republicans got negative vibes, and how many voted simply based on race, that the margin wasn't a whole lot wider? We are only talking about 5% at the most, and all the voter fraud could easily account for half of that. We will see over the next four years what kind of journalistic integerity is left, especially when the same old staffers from the Clinton era, so well versed in dirty tricks and scandals, return to the White House. There won't be any republicans in power to blame for what gets screwed up now. I won't vote based on race, I don't belive in affirmative action or that it should apply to the Presidency, I was never told a person of any minority race couldn't be anything they wanted to be in this country, quite the opposite, that is what makes America great. It's shocking to see how many are living in the past. BUT let's see what happens if Obama walks the same line as Bush once he sees the same intelligence reports, and if all the America haters, domestic and foreign, including those who contributed cash, domestic or foreign, wake up and realize he no longer needs them, and they aren't getting what they hoped for in return. That includes some of the clowns on Capitol Hill. Obama is elected, and I'm willing to wait and see how he does, some think the few republicans left in Congress might be easier for him to work with than those democrats who think Obama has to do as they say. Clinton's war in Bosnia was wonderful, or forgotten, by the news media, Bush's war in Iraq was evil according to the them, how will they portray Obama's war in Afghanistan or the horn of Africa? With a double standard I am sure. Will Obama stand up for Taiwan? Georgia? Time will tell.

Answer: These Jezebels are morons and should be banned from TV because they decieve other silly women.

2 Timothy 3:5-7 (King James Version)

5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

    Romans 1:21-23 (King James Version)

21Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

What would you expect from those idiots on the view? Seriously. To answer your question, yes, there is a double standard in this country and the white people brought it on themselves and allowed it to happen. Their strong desire to appear fair and equal to the world has left them vulnerable and now they must live with the hatefulness being thrown at them by those who would never ever consider being fair and equal. Not even to their own race! Look to Africa as an example.

@Thomas SR(Below) That was not Sharpton that used the words Hymie Town. That was Jessie Jackson. It was Sharpton that carried the Tawana Brawley lie forward to create such racial hatred. Something he has yet to apologize for. Even tho she did.

To everyone but the liberal hate-mongers and race-baiters it has been glaringly obvious for quite some time now that there is indeed a double-standard when it comes to "racism" in America. There have been endless examples of this over the past few decades; Hillary "joking" about middle-easterners owning gas stations, Sharpton calling New York "Hymie-Town", and now Wright with his various and sundry "color-tinged" remarks. I am half black myself, and racism of any kind from any source has always disgusted me. One's own skin color does not provide a cloak to disguise one's own bigotry, nor does it provide an excuse with which to further racism with one's own words.

because American society, as a whole, or as the media would have it believed, believes that only whites are racist. well some blacks are racist some asians are racist and some whites are racist. The lady on the View needs to look up the definition of racisim. Obama is racist! Even most of the blacks I know do not want him president because they feel he will make racial tension worse and believe he is racist.

Yes, blacks have a special needs, special Affirmative Action handicap and license to say whatever they want, racist or otherwise. In fact, they are not held to the same standards as other Americans on ANY terms or under ANY circumstances. They don't have to have the same grades to get into colleges. They don't have to have the same credentials to get jobs. And, as we see in the case of Obamanation, they don't have to have ANY EXPERIENCE to be taken seriously as political, nay even presidential, candidates. That's the African American Advantage: Triple A, providing emergency service to all African Americans.

Imus was trying to talk "black". He was calling them tough ugly black girls. Can't you see that comment coming from a black radio DJ? I can. Wright was being very anti-American, even though, America allows him to talk like this and become a millionaire by preaching at that church.

you are absolutely right, for some reason there seems to be a taboo of sorts for condeming those who are black and racially motivated as if there is justification for their anger as well as empathy for their views. this is one of the very fundamental problems with race and gender in this country. We can only treat some people equal and hold some people accountable because of a sentiment of somehow being wronged in the past, and justifies our unfair jugdement.

You are a very wise person and your questions are very pertinent.

Yes, all should be treated equal. But equality is dwindling I am afraid ever since "quota's" in the work place, school etc all over became famous. Whites are the minority now and we are falling further behind , one definite reason, the quota system....
