My internet stopped working on my desktop (but still works fine on my laptop). Help!?

The error message I'm getting is "this problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer" which is strange because it stopped working while I was connected. My laptop is plugged into the same adapter. Anyone know how this could be fixed?

Update:

I'm on Yahoo Answers because my laptop is connected but my desktop isn't.

Update 2:

I got it working...there was a conflict, and after I unplugged everything and waited, then plugged everything back in, it works! Thanks everyone for your help. I wish I could pick several best answers!

It looks like there is a conflict on the ip address. You need to put your modem on a PPPoE mode and if you have a router put it on a DHCP mode. Call you ISP to help you configure this.

I used to have the same problem. I solved it by calling for help.

    But this may work:

    1.Go to Wireless network Connection

    2.Click "View Available Wireless Networks"

3.Choose yours or one that is not locked

    Hope it works!

If you go to a command prompt (START; RUN; type cmd, press enter) and type:

"ipconfig/release" and wait a moment... then type

"ipconfig/renew" I think that's supposed to refresh your IP.

    Also are you connecting wirelessly?
