How to remove an dried coffee stain from carpet?

About a week ago, I spilt some coffee on my pale carpet. After soaking up what I could, I used vinegar and soapy water to try to get the stain out. The good news is, I managed to move the stain out of the carpet. The bad news is, instead of the stain coming out altogether, I managed to push the stain into a larger area of carpet. In other words-instead of a few large drops of dark stains, there is now a lighter but larger area of stain. The stain has now been there for over a week (because of the colour of the carpet, I assumed at first that the darker patch of carpet was simply where the carpet was damp from the cleaning, not a stain).

The carpet is pale enough so that anything that gets on it shows up-however, not close enough to white that I could use a bleach on it. I also can't scrub it too hard, because that makes the carpet fuzz up, which will look even worse.

Is there any way I can remove this stain, before having to resort to a professional cleaner?

You need to buy a bucket of that Oxy-Clean powder, it dilutes in a nice, big bowl of warm water.

Buy a handheld scrub-brush at Wal-Mart (the kind with bristles), and then scrub outward in circles.

I have light carpet, too, and you wouldn't believe what stains I've pulled out this way.

    Good luck. :)

Just rent a rug doctor and the appropriate cleaning soulutions. Those things are worth the 20 bucks for a day. Also , coffee usually comes up with water and some resolve for me.

keep using plain water and soak up as much excess water in a white terrycloth rag as much as possible. you might have used too much soap and that attracts dirt quicker. also make sure you use a fan to dry the area quicker because dirt will rise through the carpet fibers the longer it takes to dry.

The best way to remove a stain is to go back in time and prevent yourself from making it! ;)

Spray it with Windex and wipe it with a clean rag. I do it all the time.
