says it is good for arthritis and several other things. But I know better than to believe everything I read on the Internet. So is it true? Does it work?

Dogs don't metabolize sugar the way we do, and any extra sugars can be hazardous. I would be afraid of it causing the onset of pancreatitis or diabetes. Especially in the oder dogs suffering from arthritis.
I sure do like this supplement:

If you read the letters, they are genuine.
However, this unbiased article states that molasses is OK in small amounts:

Ive never used it personally for my dog but molasses is very rich in minerals especially calcium and iron.
Ive heard of people using it but I avoid it because it is also very high in sugar.
Another way of getting essential minerals into your dogs diet is with kelp, seaweed, spirulina, raw bones and raw meat.
Kelp, spirulina etc only needs to be given 3 times a week and it is also full of trace minerals that is often lacking in the modern day dogs diet.
I noticed on the link a lady wrote that she gave mollasses to her dog that had a diet of kibble and cooked ground turkey, so yes mollasses will help her dog because I dont believe kibble is healthy for a dog no matter how good they claim to be. Its basically meat ultra heat treated and processed with vitamins added individually and devoid of any real nourishment. Mollasses would be giving her dog essential minerals that she has been missing out on so of course it would be an improvement.

You could always give it a try in small doses. Remember a dogs liver has trouble metabolising sugars so maybe just try a few times a week.
Good Luck!
