In fact, I'm going to turn all the lights ON!

    It's a stupid, stupid idea.

One day, band-wagon symbolic mass gestures such as these tend to serve little purpose, and affect little (if any) significant change. In fact, the reams of paper wasted in advertising such an event, plus the millions of bleached cotton T-shirts and plastic junk memorabilia marketed and sold, likely more than offsets any good the exercise might have set out to accomplish.

There are far more pressing issues that should (re)direct our attention; things such as: malaria, MRSA, polluted water, particulate migration from China to the west coast of NA, tainted imported materials containing mercury and heavy metals, high levels of bacterium and God knows what else...Global warming resides on the back-burner! If global warming is really caused by man, that is! We do not really know and our computer models are a stab in the dark.

Certainly we should conserve, waste less, be cognizant of the value of money and energy, but we ought not be hoodwinked into the leftist, declinist philosophy, and regressive mentality, characterized by the 'believers' in Global Warming. (It isn't isn't a matter of "believing". Science does not work this way.

Perhaps there might be some redeeming value in that children will be influenced to waste less. We can mitigate most of our polluting and environmentally intrusive actions and consuming habits by merely wasting less. No need for celebrity events.

Perhaps a few more lights should be going on instead of the lights going off and the masses being blinded by the dark.

I think the whole concept is a waste of time.

Carbon isn't the problem, problem is due to the sun and its magnetic field strength. Do some research and the holes for current definition of global warming are obvious.

The greenhouse effect is due to reflected sun light not returning to space. So why is the atmosphere not warming faster than the ground? Because its not reflected light warming us but direct light.

I raise my hand until my elbow separates and my fingers and toes fly off to stabilise in steady orbit around an unknown planet orbiting an unknown star.
