A BT hub is the new internet device that BT are offering, if you have the basic one then you can connect muliple computers/laptops or consoles to the internet at the same time while still being able to use your phone line for calls. You can also plug a phone into the hub to make calls across the internet.
If you have the best hub it comes with its own phone connected at the front of it so you don't have to worry bout finding extra phone.
In my opinion stay away as I had one and had to have it replaced 4 times because of the firmware installed on them didn't work properly.

BT is short for British Telecom - not Bluetooth as described above.
British Telecom has devised a special hub (router) which also enables the user to connect their telephone to use Voice over IP (Internmet Protocol), enabling them to have a cheaper phone tarrif as well as using the router for the Internet both cabled and wirelessly.
