Why do people feel they need to be on their high horse when they answer a question?

Yes, it is annoying. I have asked a few questions here and I answer q's more. I always get annoyed when asking a q-someone is either immature or joking about a serious matter or just try to get points. Sometimes the answerers don't even read your whole q and then answer it half assed! URG. Helping people is what this place is about. It's not about bragging of your knowledge or intelligence. It's not about power over others who's answers aren't as "good." I come here to help people if I feel I know what they're asking. Big egos area pet peeve of mine as well.

Maybe some people feel coming here is the only way to get recognition? Attention seekers? Desperate for some form of praise?

I guess people want to sound super smart. I just answered a question strait forward and that want so hard !!!!!

they do that so they have the best acknoledgement of how to care for the pet!

ya that's true, they just need a yes or no answer, not all this other crap. It's very annoying when they put these long answers, when you don't want all that excess info.
