If you have programs such as Wordpad, Frontpage (Microsoft), iWeb (Apple), or any other word processing/website creating programs, you can use HTML to create a website (if you do not know how to use HTML code, you can take free courses online to learn how. The only problem is the personal URL, <website>.com. You have to pay monthly fees for them. An alternative option would be free website generators online, but they usually limit your options and give you a URL that isn't personal, www.<website_maker>.com/<website>.

Here is an example of a paid URL:

www.example.com

With a website host or website generator:

www.webcreator.com/example

So you can create a website for free, but you'll either have to pay a subscription, settle for an unpersonal URL, or use a website generator. (If you have a Mac, you can use .Mac)

You didn't mention what money you could spend on hosting and domain names. Best to own your own domain name if planning to invest a ton building up a site. There are lots of free blog services, blogger wordpress the big ones. The wordpress cms engine is used for all sorts of sites, liked by google, little or no html needed. You could start something on wordpress free hosting to get your feet wet. Traffic is the big goal, free traffic takes time to develop, you might develop a site for a year before worrying about making money.

Don't forget that geocities/yahoo already has one available to you for free. Even if it's not what you want, believe me, the server space alone is worth it. Besides you can practice the layout on your geocities site until it meets your criteria. Then you can simply move it to whatever place you choose.

Finding a place to host a free web site is easy. you will have advertising on your pages. That is why they let you have the site free. You mentioned that you want your own domain <website>.com..... That is not going to be free. Domain names will cost you one way or another.

if you want your own domain name you got to purchase the domain name, hosting space and have to get a website designed for you.

ok well if you want it to just say ur name and then .com you HAVE to buy one there arent any ones like that, that are free, BUT you can have one at:

or zoomshare

and its free but it say _____.zoomshare.com

instead of _____.com
