Do you think James Toseland has made a good start in motogp?

James Toseland the two times WSB Champion is in his rookie year in motogp and has finished sixth in both Qatar and Jerez. He nearly scooped a sixth today after battling throughout the race with various riders but was over taken in a good move by Capirossi on the last corner. His bike is not as competitive as a lot of the others and he and Colin Edwards are still waiting for their new engines. Do you think he has begun the season well and how do you think he will fare over the coming months?

Update:

nearly scooped a 5th today that should say there..sorry...whoops

    Hey Em,

I have been well impressed with his performances so far, and thought that section of the pack was the best part of the racing yesterday - he loves a bit of argy bargy and I love to see it!

I definately think we wil be seeing him on the podium this year, once he gets the machine promised and I think this is going to be a great year for the Yammi's.

p.s. And hasn't Edwards been on fire? What a save he made during qualifying!!

I think J.T Is doing great. A 6th place with Bronchitis on inferior machinery. though Jerez is not a power circuit. is a good result, and as you say both he and Colin are expecting the new Pneumatic valve after Portugal. I dont think even J.T expected to be where he is in the championship after just 2 rounds. to be fair All the rookies are doing a fantastic job out there.

    James has done fantastic.

I guess I may be a little on his side been a fellow Yorkshire man, but the boy really has done good!

His double six place is very impresive. Even more so, considering how poorly he was today.

I really cant remember when we had a rider with the talent and the machine to do the business.... [ except Barry #7 ]

    Was it Alan Carter ? 250's Early 1980's ?

    Good stuff from #52 anyway.

Source(s): ( before anybody says " what about Foggy at Donny Park, 93 ?? That was a wild card on a full factory machine. Yes it was a great ride, but not a full attack on the title.............. plus Doohan took himself and Revin #34 out on the first lap. )

I have previously stated that i would be very suprised if JT had any podium finishes this season but so far he has been pretty impresive and as the months progress i think we are going to see some great rides from him and maybe, just maybe see a podium finish.

I think he has surprized alot off people me included and think with new engines he will be up there but was still glad to see Capirossi taking him on the last corner as I just think Loris is a brilliant rider and can still surprize a load off folks who have been saying that he is past it.

He's doing really well, and getting a bit of a 'rough riding' reputation at the same time......

As far as the rest of the season, he will probably do well, but I don't believe he's actually ever going to win a championship in this class.

I think he`s made quite a good start, don`t forget he`s still finding his feet. I think he and Colin will do much better once they get their new engines and have got used to them.

Definetly although don't think he'll win this season, but think he'll have a rather good chance next season.

very impressive, consiering the considerable difference between suberbikes and moto gp, he has got to grips with riding a moto gp bike very quickly.
