  • Moto2: Faster and then stop?

When the Moto2 class was in the pipeline it was said the HRC prepped engines were going to approx 150bhp, however this year the engines are only 'breathed' on to 125bhp.

    Why?

I'm thinking that they could not run them at full chat due to in later years they would have nowhere to go.

Dunlop will (as always) make better rubber and the CC's will always make the chassis's better.

I guess when the racing gets to standard, they will tune the engines more, say 10 bhp per year?

Another quick question, is the Moto3 class going to have a one make engine rule ?

What are your thoughts race fans on the Moto2 engine tune situation ?

  • MotoGP: Rossi VS Ago .....?

...... So as we know, Valentino Rossi will not stop racing untill he he gets the magic 123 / 124 GP race wins needed to overtake the Legend Ago's total.

I think he has given up on the idea of beating Ago's 15 world title's but he needs to get the win tally.

However, Rossi's M1 is not the 'head & shoulder above' the competion that Ago's MV was. Also he has this little young Spanish kid on the other side of the fence who is doing rather well this year.

    So ......

Do you (thats REAL race fans) think that if needed, Rossi [along with Alex Briggs & Jeremy Burgess ] will go 'down' to the Moto2 class just to tally up the race wins?

Lets face it, spec tyres (Dunlop), spec engines (Honda - not HRC), so it comes down to chassis and set up. Well with the aid of JB on the team, he could make a childs big wheel handle better the Superbike, so with Rossi on board, could anybody beat them ?

If he is fit, he is unbeatable. Look at last weekends Le Mans race.

Vale's shoulder is still broken and he settled for second. Not his plan, he wanted the win, but the title race is also a goal.

Time will tell. Lets repost this question at the end of 2012, lets also see if he takes the soon to be empty seat at Ducati.

Your thoughts on the long winded question please race fans?

  • MotoGP: Stoner signed with HRC .........?

Well well well !! The madness has started this year !

    http://www.motomatters.com/news/2010/05/11/the_mad...

I really cant see this been correct ........ however with saying that, Stoner does not like the GP10 and he was very close to Livio Suppo who is now at HRC, so you never know, the rumors might be right.

  • Moto2. After 2 races, what are you thoughts?

With the new introduction of the Moto2 class now two races gone, what are you first thoughts.

I'll be honest, I really was not keen on the idea to start with, but now I'm really liking it. Yesterdays Jerez round was great. Good to see Tiger Toni winning again.

The engine rule is really working out well for equal performance too, it really makes to teams work well on final gearing, fairings & chassis set ups.

Shame its a one make tyre rule, but again, it keeps it equal.

So, whats your thoughts on the new '250cc' racing? I for one, really like it. Shame 4 strokes dont smell as nice as stroker's on full throttle !!

Just a little off season fun.

Who has the best & worse helmet designs for 2010?

Worst has got to be Alvaro Bautista's effort here : http://www.rideontwo.com/gallery/d/96374-2/2010020...

    Best. Colin Edwards : http://www.rideontwo.com/gallery/d/96416-2/4331044...

  • MotoGP Vs Moto2 (800 / 1000 Vs 600cc )?

The new replacement for the 250's is shaping up in a very intresting championship.

http://www.motogp.com/en/Moto2 & http://www.rideontwo.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=243... for full details and pictures.

Does anybody else think that with all the new teams and different designs allowed in the class that the racing might be even better the MotoGP class ?

It has to be said that on many a weekend, the 125's & 250 races were better then the MotoGP race, so why should this change just because they are 4 strokes ? Same engine power output and same rubber ( Dunlop ) so the racing should be tight and really down to rider talent and team set up.

Also, with riders like Dani Pedrosa not having the best of times in recent year ( not shabby, but not geat ) & his small built, can we see more riders dropping down a class to bikes that may be more ridable for them.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say now that I think Toni Ellias is going to be one of the top riders in 2010. He knows the tracks and after riding the RCV 212 the 600cc should be almost easy for him.

So what are your thoughts please?

  • MotoGP: JB & Rossi to Ducati..... "Laughable".....?

Well even though Rossi has not said NO to the move, and neither really has his crew chief Jeremy Burgess, JB has said to MCN that the move is "Laughable".

    http://www.motomatters.com/news/2009/10/19/burgess...

    & full report here :

    http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresul...

The problem I find with making statments to the press like this, is they dont say YES (we) are moving to Ducati nor do they say NO (we) are NOT going red.

Saying its laughable is not good enough !! Its was deemed laughable when the 2 of them moved to Yamaha, but after the first race when Rossi won, everybody stopped laughing.

Does JB & VR need another massive challange ? I know Rossi does not, as all he wants now is Ago's 123 record so he can put a stopper in to all the haters. I dont think changing to the big red beast would be a smart move for that.

As for JB ? I think he is almost getting a little bored of winning !

If you think that before Rossi he had the God like Mick Doohan with a massive 54 wins in the Blue Ribbon Class, and before that he and Erv Kanemoto won almost every race that a HRC Honda won. So I really dont think he needs to make another bike ( the GP11 as it will be ) a world beating bike.

Ducati, with thier WSB knowhow, should be able to do that them selves.

So what are your thoughts on the whole Rossi - Ducati move ?

Do you think it will happen ?

Is this the future : http://i307.photobucket.com/albums/nn309/wiggysan/...

  • MotoGP : 125cc. KTN to pull out.........?

    ....... This is another blow:

    http://www.motomatters.com/news/2009/10/01/ktm_to_...

It was bad enough that KTM pulled out of the 250 class, but now leaving the 125 is terrible news.

Even though the 125 / 250 class have never been short of numbers, another make pulling out cant be good.

Are KTM going to start funding thier RC8 superbike with the money they are going to save ?

The last I heard they were €57 million in debt and were going to be bought by Baja in India. Sales of WP racing products are down alot as well.

    Not good news.

  • WSB : How will Marco do ...............?

.......... Well after only testing the bike twice, Marco Simoncelli has been confirmed to race at Imola !

But how do you think he will do?

We know he is massive talent on a 250 , and will no doubt be the best rider to ride the San Carlo Grasini MotoGP bike in a few years.

His times have been steady and he looks really well planted on the RSV 4. He is way to tall for the little Aprillia 250, so in going for top 7.

you really have to think that when the G.O.A.T say's the 800's are a bad idea, then maybe you should eat humble pie.

One of the biggest points I read is the sat teams have never won.

That really is not good for the sport.

  • MotoGP into Moto2 : Who will go down ?

Well to no suprise there will be some unhappy little bunnys in the paddock who will not be staying in the Blue Ribbon Class.

    Alex De Angelis : http://www.motogp.com/en/riders/Alex+De+Angelis

To be honest, apart from a flucky podium at indy, the kid has done nothing since moving up. He was a good 250, not great, but good enough to be up the front most of the time, so I would have a bet to say he would find a Moto2 rider with not to many problems.

    Randy De Puniet : http://www.motogp.com/en/riders/Randy+De+Puniet

Randy looks like staying with LCR for another year, but with the up and coming riders in the championship, you almost have to ask why. OK, in 08 the LCR team needed shares in the company who makes thier fairing, but since the swop to Bridgestone he has keep't it rubber side down in almost all the races, but does he deserve to stay up in MotoGP? I think if he was going to shine on a satalite bike, he would have done it by now ( read : Dovi )

    Toni Elias : http://www.motogp.com/en/riders/Toni+Elias

Why does Toni start coming good in the last 5 races of the year ? He has done it in 06, 07, last year and again now. He was complaining on the podium the other week that people who dont podium get rides, but I think little Tiger had forgotten that them people finish higher in the title race then he does ( Read : Edwards )

Also out, but maybe to WSB or WSS:

James Tosland. Sad to say, but I cant see why Herve Poncharal would keep the Brit when he could Ben Spies. Shame.

Chris Vermeulen. Just like James, really has not performed like he should. Also like James, Ten-Kate would get rid of Checa in a heart beat to have either of these rides back.

Niccolo Canepa. Real big dissapointment. I guess riding a MotoGP is alot harder then a Superstock bike ehh ? However if Pramac do get rid off Canepa, that might leave the door open for ........

    ........Aleix Espargaro : http://resources.motogp.com/files/images/xy/2009/M...

Now i hope this kid finds a place with Pramac, or if not, atleast a high end Moto2 team. He has performed really well so far ( not counting corner 1 at Indy ) and seems to have picked up a good feel for the bike. Could Ducati keep him on and try and " bend " him to ride the bike like Casey does?

Also, we have the " will they - wont they " new team of FB Corse coming to the show : http://www.motomatters.com/news/2009/09/08/brand_n...

Maybe running the triple that BMW scapped in favour of the WSB engine?

Who know? But it does look good :

    http://www.gpone.com/DB/Foto_2009_09/20090809ORALL...

    http://www.gpone.com/DB/Foto_2009_09/20090809ORALA...

So what are your thoughts please race fans on the movers and shakers?

Also, if the bikes are so equal, how long will it be [after he has 124 wins] untill Rossi has a shift on to a Moto2 bike? With his talent and Jerry turning the spanners, he would be unbeatable...... wound't he ?

  • Moto2 : 14 seconds slower ...............?

This is very intresting : http://www.bikesportnews.com/articles/article.html...

Now granted, the bike is still under development and Mr Schwantz is 50 years young, but to be " only " 14 seconds slower then Dani Pedrosa's pole time is belting !

Lets looks at the facts :

    New bike.

    Poor set up

Un known track for the rider

Rider of 50 years old, not raced for 15 years nearly.

I think with a younger ( dare I say it, fitter, faster rider ) and time to get the thing set right, the Moto2's are not going to be much slower then the 800's.

What are your thoughts on this matter? , and the fact the KS#34 is still a legend !!

  • MotoGP: Stoner speaks ...........?

    .......... at last !

    http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78023

    Very interesting.

all the points that Rumblestrip Radio & David Emmet of MotoGPmatters.com brought up seem to have been resolved.

Casey's poor diet and workout system etc.

Casey has stated he WILL be back for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

I must admit, I really thought for a time, that Casey was going to take the whole year off and even sent one my far too long emails to many race fans around the globe with my thoughts that Casey might not come back at all. Like freddie Specer. Quiting very young, early 20's.

Well it looks like my worst fears are not going to happen. Im really glad on this matter.

Yes I'm more a Rossi fan then a Stoner fan, but the sports needs riders like Casey. His off track " performance " from a sponsors point of few might lack in areas, but as a high end rider is in the top 4 in world.

In no particular order: Rossi, Stoner, Spies & Lorenzo.

So what are your thoughts on Casey's return ? and what he has said in the link aobve ?

Look foward to your answers race fans.

  • MotoGP: 250cc Brno after race...............?

.......... is this : http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/151088/1/pictures... not one of the funniest thingss you have seen in a long time ?

No I have banged myself up pretty bad, and I would never laugh at someone falling off, but I know that Alvaro is fine after his little spill.

Note to self Alvaro.... cover the rear brake.

So, my question is after todays spill : Have any of you had a crash that was " funny " ?

The only one I can think of for myself is getting a right hander too fast on my old RS 125 Chesterfield and going straight through an open farmers gate and scaring the hell out of some sheep ! Nor me or the sheep were hurt so thats ok.

I crashed my last owned track bike ( RC51 ) at Donnington at over 100mph and smashed the bike to bits. I lay in the gravel gutted that I just wasted the bike and the St Johns team thought I was dead or badly. I just got up, brushed myself down and walked off ! Not even a chipped finger nail ! Six months before that, I slipped on some oil in the paddock, fell off at walking pace, broke my right arm and cracked my right ankle !
