MotoGP: Rossi VS Ago .....?
...... So as we know, Valentino Rossi will not stop racing untill he he gets the magic 123 / 124 GP race wins needed to overtake the Legend Ago's total.
I think he has given up on the idea of beating Ago's 15 world title's but he needs to get the win tally.
However, Rossi's M1 is not the 'head & shoulder above' the competion that Ago's MV was. Also he has this little young Spanish kid on the other side of the fence who is doing rather well this year.
So ......
Do you (thats REAL race fans) think that if needed, Rossi [along with Alex Briggs & Jeremy Burgess ] will go 'down' to the Moto2 class just to tally up the race wins?
Lets face it, spec tyres (Dunlop), spec engines (Honda - not HRC), so it comes down to chassis and set up. Well with the aid of JB on the team, he could make a childs big wheel handle better the Superbike, so with Rossi on board, could anybody beat them ?
If he is fit, he is unbeatable. Look at last weekends Le Mans race.
Vale's shoulder is still broken and he settled for second. Not his plan, he wanted the win, but the title race is also a goal.
Time will tell. Lets repost this question at the end of 2012, lets also see if he takes the soon to be empty seat at Ducati.
Your thoughts on the long winded question please race fans?

Hello wiggysan,
I think you´re right about his chances. Jorge Lorenzo will give him a run for his money and make for him real hard to get to the 124 mark.
I don´t think he would go down to Moto2. I´m convinced that´s almost impossible.
The Premier class of Motorcycle Competition is that in which Vale is racing,
forget about everything else. If he makes a move like that then he kills
the premier class. Carmelo wouldn´t allow that.
Also, I don´t see anyone paying his usual earnings (plus JB´s) at Moto2
His annual pay is enough to budget several teams.
He would kick *** for sure, but it would be considered by many as a trick to get to the milestone.
I don´t think we will take the Ducati seat either. The Bolognese works are in trouble if they let Casey go (perhaps already happened) and fail to sign Vale or Jorge.

Its strange how the mind will try to fit things that arent there.
First there was the breaking up of the Ducati management and the rumour that it was to make way for Rossi and his crew.
then there is the connection between HRC and Casey Stoner, (sorry couldnt find link you sent me)
the young pretender _ Jorge Lorenzo
And my main man - Ben Spies
I figure with Jorge and Ben on the same Machinery (2011) Rossi has dramatically cut his chances.
the move to Ducati would normally be risky - Jorge refused big money because its risky.
But going back to the first bit, Rossi may already be collecting data from Ducati. and lets not forget when he left Honda he went with crew chief "And" the fuel injection system. I think its fair to say Rossi has never really been on an "Equal " bike with everyone else. Moto2 might not suit them. and I agree with the others its too much of a step down for the fans to accept. (Unless he did both in the same year) But we have said that before.
I think unless he can sweet talk his way back to Honda (which thinking Japanese I doubt, even for him) His best bet to get the wins is to gamble and go Red.
But all this talk is kind of writing him off after just 3 races. He may just beat Jorge and stay at Yamaha to follow Ben around a few tracks for a season or two.

I don't think he will go down to moto 2 but i think he will try and carry on as long as he physically can in moto GP.
He may struggle when he is not at full fitness as young Jorge Lorenzo is proving to be a good rider but i think at full fitness and been fully comfortable with the bike Rossi will get to 123/124 no doubt.
He may go to ducati but i think for the next few seasons he will stay at Yamaha then move on when he is ready and feels the need to not just because a space has arisen.
I also think there a few new riders to the Moto GP class that could give Rossi a run for his money in future including Ben Spies.

Oooh you know I have never thought of him going to Moto2 to tally up the race wins. That does make a lot of sense but I just can't see him doing that. I think it would be seen as if he is sort of taking the easy way to get the score. I think a lot of people would also lose a bit of respect for him. It's a bit like cheating. I think that Lorenzo will give him a run for his money. A really good run but only if he stays on the Yamaha or a Honda. I can't imagine Lorenzo doing too well on the Ducati. I think he would struggle to start with and then maybe improve but I honestly think he would have a hard time adjusting to it. Unless what Nicky Hayden has done has actually changed the bike making it easier for other riders. I guess time would tell.
I would love to see Rossi on the Duke or on a Suzuki. I would love him to get on the Suzuki and then kick ***!

hi Proc i imagine Valentino Rossi is somewhat dissatisfied at Yamaha, yet no longer dissatisfied sufficient to go away the crew any time quickly. i wager his modern rant about Yamaha signing Lorenzo decrease back, is in simple terms a demonstration to his bosses putting forward "be careful". Yamaha needs Rossi to be remembered as a Yamaha rider, so for them the most suitable state of affairs should be Valentino staying 2 more suitable seasons and getting in the past´s list. for the period of those years he ought to assume a puzzling project from his teammate (Lorenzo and probably Spies) so the actual incontrovertible truth that Yamaha offered "equivalent" treatment to Lorenzo, became no longer the most suitable little bit of knowledge to Vale, specifically as Jorge is reaping benefits of Valentinos ´motorcycle progression. Neither the actual incontrovertible truth that Spies became anticipated to modify to MotoGP in 2011, and the rumor mill now says 2010. This issues can get contained in the way even as searching for Agostini´s list. As Ducati is going, they for positive elect to be Champions back, yet those days they failed at luring Pedrosa or Lorenzo, as their motorcycle isn't recognized as a one with Champion ability, so I reckon bringing Rossi should be very puzzling... regardless of the undeniable fact that... ...the biggest component i imagine will be what Valentino needs, and that, all of us recognize can change contained in the subsequent few years, We now he should be Champion back, that he needs in the past´s list, yet as well recognize he loves the project. Ducati would get him, by providing him a incredible motorcycle, on his own words, JB coated, solid money, and an absolute variety one status contained in the crew to assure the most wins plausible for him. Ducati is a small crew and corporation (compared to others) yet financially isn't that small. Has rather some solid sponsors. I wouldn´t options that attempt in any respect. I´m 100% possitive he can journey and win with the purple beast.

[ that's a good question, it's ironic that his biggest obstacle to achieving the record is his team mate, i think that he would move down to the Moto2 class to get the record, as it's the only real target left for him.
but i wonder how impossible, and allowable, would it be for him too attempt riding in both classes in the same season, as was common in the past..i think Freddie Spencer may have been the last rider to do that, but i'm not sure..
with the length of a season now that's a big ask i know....but it's a thought.... and may be the only way.........<^><...
