MotoGP: Stoner speaks ...........?

.......... at last !

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/78023

Very interesting.

all the points that Rumblestrip Radio & David Emmet of MotoGPmatters.com brought up seem to have been resolved.

Casey's poor diet and workout system etc.

Casey has stated he WILL be back for the Portuguese Grand Prix.

I must admit, I really thought for a time, that Casey was going to take the whole year off and even sent one my far too long emails to many race fans around the globe with my thoughts that Casey might not come back at all. Like freddie Specer. Quiting very young, early 20's.

Well it looks like my worst fears are not going to happen. Im really glad on this matter.

Yes I'm more a Rossi fan then a Stoner fan, but the sports needs riders like Casey. His off track " performance " from a sponsors point of few might lack in areas, but as a high end rider is in the top 4 in world.

In no particular order: Rossi, Stoner, Spies & Lorenzo.

So what are your thoughts on Casey's return ? and what he has said in the link aobve ?

Look foward to your answers race fans.

I think if Stoner doesn´t come back, it would be a huge loss for the sport and for the Ducati Team. I think Casey is a much better rider than most people give him credit for. When he won in 2007 the news always mentioned how powerful was the Desmo, how good electronics it had, and the advantage of the Bridgestone tyres. Even Valentino cried about that. I thought this was really unfair on Casey, who really had a great season and did a magnificent job. On the other hand there´s also the ongoing discusion about how the Desmo16 is a brutal machine than very few can tame, and great riders like Melandri, Hayden, and even Loris didn´t match Casey´s pace.

I dont´think the GP9 (neither the GP8 or GP7) had that huge power advantage, or electronics edge, I think Stoner really found a great combination and really took advantage of it, but mainly because he is a riding extraoirdinaire, and not because of the hardware he had. I do beleive though that Stoner had some edge with the Bridgestone tyres, maily because Ducati was key in their development, but that slight advantage has gone and even like that, he´s been able to win races, win poles, and setting fastest laps. Today, however the M1 is the better bike, but everybody talks about how talented are Valentino and Lorenzo. Of course they are, but for Casey it was a different treatment.

We all know Stoner is not the best P.R. guy in the paddock, and that he moans, but part of that is due not been valued enough by his team and by the media. He won a Championship for Ducati. He did it in a unique fashion, because he really smashed Rossi that year, and nobody has done that, ever . He help the Bolognese works them sell thousands of bikes around the world, help them to bring many sponsors, but the moment he has health problems, Ducati throws the double they´re paying Casey to Lorenzo, who I think is great but has not accomplished what Stoner has.

I´m definitely looking forward to his come-back, and even if he leaves Ducati, I will root for him whatever he is riding.

Im with Ciccio on this. cant really add to his answer.

The comment I like is the one where Casey says he has the speed to run up front but cant sustain it. If the rest works and he is right we will see at Estoril. all the stuff from the Stoner camp is pointing to the right descision to rest himself. and a good recovery on the way.

    I certainly hope so.

and as I said in the email. I think he will be back and not have to do the work Marlboro are wanting him to.

Who else can they get to ride the Red beast. Even Lorenzo turned down the money. That just upgrades Stoners worth to me. How Casey feels about the offer they made is another story. It might even be enough for him to look elsewhere 2011.

    Get well soon Casey.

I'm more a Vermeulen fan as Aussies love an underdog but I agree with what you said about top 4 in the world-I mean Rossi is a god but Stoner has been the one pushing him the most consistently (apart from Lorenzo this year).

Was worried he might have been just writting off this year but will be very excited to see him return, sitting up until midnight and beyond to watch the races down here just isn't the same without him.

Casey Stoner is one of the best in Moto GP at the moment he was doing well even when he was ill.

He sounds like hes not happy with his performance or it could be better if he wasnt ill but nobody knows whats wrong him.

Someone a ex rider i think on a track side BBC interview said he might have a illness which is brought on by stress (Cant remember the name of the illness) because stress can make people ill.

Also Steve Parish says riding a Moto GP bike with 240 HP is incredibly physical and the Ducati always looks on the edge tank slaping all the time.

My guess whats wrong with him.

It will be good to see him back.

Hi Wiggysan I think Proc has nailed this one. I reckon this is a smoke screen, and when the lights go out on 12th April we'll see how much it really hurts him. I'm guessing not much. Medical science has come a long way since Revvin Kevins injury shortened his career. Rossi's done similar things in the past. Made people think he's out of contention with an injury, then gone and blitzed the field. I hope thats what Casey is up to. If not it will be a damn shame.
