I showed this to my religious friend last night and he didn't think that it was a satire. I wasn't sure, but I was leaning more toward satire, what are your thoughts?

It's satire, and not particularly clever.  If someone doesn't see through it, that's pretty sad.

(You might point out to your friend that Christian witnesses do not cover their faces.)
