What color COUNTETOPS should go with DARK cabinets and oak hardwood floor? WHITE or Dark?
I have DARK (not quite cherry, but DARK brown) cabinets which presently has OLD butcher block laminate counter tops and oak hardwood floor.
Is it best to match the cabinet color for counter tops or should I go to a neutral color like WHITE?

Most people go with a color darker than the cabinets. I see a lot of black granite/quartz being used these days.
I'd recommend going to a design center or store like Home Depot or Lowe's. They usually have a wide range of cabinets with a variety of countertops on them.

i would try to match the colors of both the countertop and the hardwood floor as closely as possible. otherwise youre going to end up with way too many colors going on in your kitchen. the color of countertop and floor should be lighter than the cabinets. a light maple or beech would work, as this color is about half way between the appliance color and the dark oak cabinet color. you dont say what color the walls are, i think theyd look best in a taupe or sand color, darker than the floor and countertop, but lighter than the cabinets.

Most of my clients go with a lighter color like Gallo ornamental or new venetian gold granite with dark cabinets, you can pull the dark color out in the backspalsh with dark colored dots or accents in a lighter color tile backspalsh. The look is great and warms up the area.

You want to stay with something not busy.
The floors are busy since they have a wood grain and the dark cabinets need some contrast .
I would go with a neutral stone look with a very small pattern, not a busy granite and forget white unless you want to be cleaning it all the time.

I would not go with actual white, because the contrast is too stark. But unless your kitchen is absolutely sundrenched bright, I would not go with dark either.
You don't say what material you are contemplating, but if you are going with the stone/marble/even Corian, I would go for a generally light and lively neutral, flecked with dark. If you are going with a formica type, I would choose somewhat bright over dark.

Definitely go with white or a lighter color. If you stayed with the dark then your kitchen would seem small and gloomy. The white and the black will make it look sophisticated and sleek. Have fun!

i think u should go with a lighter color because then it wont look to dark-saturated near the cabinets and countertops
i suggest white marble with black going thru it (my bud has it it looks really nice)

definitely dark
but i wouldn't match the cabinet color. that'd be weird. i'd do a granite countertop
