date and time display in Windows 2000?

For some reason the date displays as dd/mm/yy in both explorer windows and my mail client, and I want it to display mm/dd/yy. How do I change this in Windows 2000?

    In control panel open regional and language options and under regional tab, select united states, it'll adjust everything for you, if it doesn't click on customzied and change the format. Good luck!

    Syed is correct BUT!!! hit the Apply button after you make the changes then OK. This saves your settings, otherwise they will revert when you turn the computer off.
