I can't run a mile without stopping.?
How do I run a mile without stopping? Either I end up starting too fast, thinking I can do it or I don't take deep breaths. I want my mile time to be 8 1/2 minutes or less. How do I do this without stopping?

Run a little more each day Also try going the whole 4 miles with breaks for walking Sooner or later you'll be able to run the 4 miles without stopping Just keep on trying!

run slow for the first half mile. slower than you think you should be running. don't focus on at 8.5 mile. just focus on running a mile. if you pace yourself in the first half, the second half will be easier. once you master running a mile, then you can focus on running a mile fast.
another thing that helps: get a running partner convince one of your friends ro run a mile with you. if you're running with someone, you'll be less likely to stop.

set a pace thts faster that a jog but slower than a run, breathe into your nose and out your mouth. take it easy for the first couple laps on the third run a little faster on the forth run half the way and then give ti all you got for the last half

Breathe in through your nose and out your mouth- takes a while to get used too but is the most efficient.

I'd say pace yourself, too.
And practice, practice.
I had a hard time running the mile, and then I just ran it every other day or so, and I shaved off quite a bit from my time.
Good luck !
