    Hi

    This is our schedule

    Tails & dew-claws @ 3 days

    Bordatella & Microchip @ 4 weeks.

    Vaccinations @ 6-8-10-12 weeks

Rabies also given @ 12 weeks

We also worm Mom 35 days into pregnancy & start worming pups @ 4 weeks

You should be able to pull up registry info on your computer.

Our Vet examines pups on every visit. Vet should give all vaccinations, and anything else that you lack experience in.

You should check with your Vet to see if he/she is comfortable with this schedule, as I can assure you different vets prefer different schedules.

You also need to monitor puppies every 3 hours around the clock for at least 3-4 days.

We prefer berber carpet as bedding, because it lays flat & puppies don't get tangled or stuck where mom can't get to them. It is also good because puppies can get a grip with their nails for feeding & moving around.

You should also have on hand all supplies necessary for supplementing feeding if necessary.

We use heat lamps to make sure puppies stay warm.

Mom should always have easy assess to fresh water & all she wants to eat. Talk to your Vet to see if they recommend any suppliments for mom during this time.

Mom & pups should be in an area where there is very limited activity, such as guest bathroom.

We examine pups daily to make sure there are no issues, and that Mom is cleaning properly, ect...

Decide who will have access to pups and who will handle pups. Everyone else [no touching until 4 weeks] Area should be kept very clean, and always wash hands before handling pups.

You are responsible for their safety, and must take this seriously.

    Best of Luck!

Tails and dewclaws need to be done now or before they are 5 days old. Vaccinations can be started when they are 6 weeks old (your vet may have a different recommedation if so follow their recommendation not mine). Contact the agency that the parents are registered with if it's the AKC registration can be done online (www.akc.org). Microchips can wait until the puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 9-12 weeks. You really need to get a mentor. I'm surprised that you don't have one.

Where to begin?? Oh my gosh...they need to be under a heat lamp at 85 degrees for the first three weeks, need to be weighed daily to ensure weight gain, and need to be properly latching on to mama...if not, you will have to supplement them with bottle feeding until about 5 months when all the pups will go on softened puppy food. As far as shots go, 6 weeks, they will need the Duramune max 5 in one, and again at 8-9 weeks. That shot covers all the basic puppy shots (if you are doing it at home), or you will have to take them to the vet a 6 weeks for the first shots. About papers, you can either have the buyer apply for them, or do it yourself, but you will need to wait until you have buyers to give the association the correct name of the pup. Do not let the pups go to a new home before 8 weeks! You can look up the appropriate association on the web, and apply for paperwork online. For example, I register all my pups with the American Border Collie Assocaiation (ABCA). Kennel club association is typically left to the new owners, as well as tail docking, and microchips.

ADDED: sorry if I miss-spoke about tail-docking...I don't deal with a breed that needs it done, so I don't know the time frame.

  • 6 weeks is the soonest on shots tails cute shoudl be done lije right now or they wont heal right .... papers go to the akc or what ever u registired ur dogs website there should be infor there pups should leav the mom no earlyer thrn 6 weeks althogh 8 weeks is the best time microchips should be done when there older and u cant spay or neater then untill they are a certain weight and size normally 4 months dont wait that long to sell or give away pupps like taht guy said and DONT give them to a rescuse dont make them some one else problem unless u truly cant handle them but u should find a breeder near u to help u with all of this it is very over whelming and if all else fails call a vet they should be able to give you good advice next be perpared b4 u breed and if this was an acident maybe u should have u dog neautered

This is why people should *not* breed their dogs unless they *know* what they are doing.

First things first, find a vet.

Next thing you should do is start lining up GOOD well screened, potential owners, write up a non-breeding contract too. No need to contribute anymore to the animal population than you already have.

Good luck...I hope someone comes around here that can give you more advice.

if you are gonna get dew claws removed or tails docked this is the time to do it. Shots usually begin at 6 weeks and they usually get them at 8 weeks to. The papers should be filled out and sent in very soon, it usually takes awhile to get them back. You can have them microchipped anytime at the vet.

The only viable tip I could offer would have been to research all this BEFORE you brought life into this world. Mom is a champ? Big deal if you didn't do the OFA and such testing on BOTH of the litter's parents BEFORE you bred them.

Man I have to say that some of the people who have tried to answer your question are either just stupid or dum. First as far as shots, tale cut, chips and etc. between 4 to 6 weeks is a good time.As for chip the owners can do that themselves. You can get the papers yourself being that the ***** is yours. Is the stud yours also? Right now just take it easy and let the ***** nurse her pups. However what you can do is start putting ads out to let the community know that you have pups for sale.

DEF. do not get the tails cut. visit akc.com and e-mail questions you have and do research on everything. Remember they must stay with their mother until 8 weeks.

When you sell them or give them away make sure to do back up checks and home checks if possible. You don't want to put these dogs to bad homes. Ask your vet- you vet should be fully aware that your dog was pregnant.

do you have a USDA (united states department of agriculture) liscense?

call your vet. they should have their tails docked by 3 days. of age and dew claws removed it there are any. you really should have prepared for this before the pups were born. contact the breeder you got the mom from you need a mentor not a bunch of strangers.
