Both - you should aim to be doing 2-3 sessions of weights per week (about 40 mins each time) and 2-3 sessions of cardio (about 45 mins to 1 hour for medium intensity) and only about 20 mins for high intensity. I have a personal trainer and do weights 3 times a week and I'm really toning up. You DO NOT build unsightly muscle unless you are lifting very heavy weights several times a week and taking supplements (and usually steroids on top). Women aren't built to naturally grow big muscles (my personal trainer was a very successful weight lifter up until a few years ago and she told me that as soon as she stopped doing weights for several hours a day and taking all of the supplements her muscles went straight back to normal) You cannot build big muscles by doing light reps 3 times a week but boy can you notice the difference in tone! Added advantage is that when you then do cardio you are burning more fat than if you do not lift weights.

Whenever you are trying to lose weight, you should concentrate on these three things which all work together in providing a healthier and quicker weight loss goal for yourself. I have found this combination really successful in my weight loss plans. The first thing is exercising and how much you can put forth into it. The more you exercise, the more results you will see. The next thing is dieting and the calorie intake. If you exercise more, technically you could eat more? Always watch what you eat.

Now the last step in a good weight loss plan is always a good diet pill that can help you get to the end of the road. I have found Proactol which is a natural herbal diet pill to be the best around. It's an appetite suppressant along with being a fat blocker which stops up to 28% of fat you eat. Read up about it at TheWeightLossPlace .com where I saved money on it. Proactol really works well with exercising which gives you plenty of energy to perform. Along with that your diet will be affected by Proactol due to the appetite suppressant and fat blocker. If you slip up on meals, the fat blocker kicks in. It's really great to stop food cravings.

Concentrate on those three things and the combination is deadly for the fat cells in your body. Good luck and I hope this helps.

  • You're probably doing too little, time wise, or low intensity.

Also, you might not be on a proper diet, thus cancelling out the calories you burned at the gym.

Do about 30 minutes of cardio, at mild to high intensity, then do light weight circuit training, which basically means, light weights, more reps, more set, let rest time in between sets.

That'll promote your heart rate to increase, and build muscle, both of which reduce body fat, off course, cut down on your daily caloric intake.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

do both, start with cardio and finish with some mild weight training.

Edit - if you want to lose weight make sure you're doing it at least 4 times a week and in conjunction with a healthy diet.

Cardio is the best for weight loss. With weight training there is a chance you shall see extra fat to be too stubborn to melt.

Many say that the most important way to lose weight is through limiting sugar intake. Of course, one has to have an active lifestyle too. Cut the carbs, lower your insulin and you will start to eat less calories automatically and without hunger. Doing cardio will be great, but do not forget to put emphasis on the intensity of your workout.

do both but focus on weights. Muscle burns fat and by building more lean muscle, your metabolism rate would increase, resulting in weight loss. Cardio, on the other hand burns muscle, therefore resulting in a slow rate of weight loss, but it has a plus side in improving your stamina. Therefore, do both but focus more on weights.
