Should U have pain after a paps smear?
Yesterday I had my first OB appt and the guy was ruff and it hurt. I never had pain during or after a pap but yesterday I had a lot of pain when he was done. I came home took a warm bath and the pain still didn't go away I woke up this morning with the same pain but just a lil less...Now I work in medicine and I have never had a pt nor myself experience pain after this kind of exam...Is this normal?

The only time I experienced any pain during a pap smear was when I was pregnant, because everything is much more sensitive.
Oh and when I had a bioposy done, that was very painful.

The pain is totally normal if the pain is in the form of cramps. Sometimes I have cramps for a few days after a pap, sometimes I don't. You could also be more sensitive if you were about to get your period or if you had just finished it up. Take some Motrin and just relax. You'll feel better by tomorrow.

If you're pregnant you're going to find things may be a bit more painful, especially concerning your vaginal area. My first pap at my OB's office hurt a bit as well and she was very gentle. Your body is much more sensitive to pain now.
