Locals in New Orleans: Where are your favorite places to eat?
We are going to New Orleans in a couple of weeks and would like to know of some great places to eat that we don't often hear about or aren't heavily advertised. Will some of you who live there or have been there please share?

Cafe DuMonde for beignets and coffee of course. There are lots of chains like Margaritaville(not great). The Palace Cafe on Canal street has great food and also a nice off the beaten path but on the street car line is Cannon's. Have fun and ignore #2's comment. Don't forget to go to Pat O'Briens and have a drink or just go to the piano bar or pation, lots of fun.

Broussard's, Dominique's, Rib Room and my favorite is Arnaud's and NOLA.
Fiorella's has great breakfast and really good Po'Boys. They have different specials everyday. They serve lunch and dinner. It's one of those "hole in the wall places" with great local home cooking type of food.
Have fun!

I love K-Paul's, NOLA and Mazperro's for dinner, Johnny's Po-boys for lunch (plus just walking around and trying different things at different spots, like a bowl of gumbo or red beans and rice at the gumbo shop, barbecued shrimp from a restaurant at jackson square on the corner nearest the cathedral, raw oysters at Acme, brunch-court of two sisters, late night muffeletta and red beans and rice at court of two sisters on bourbon street side
