    Bring your last pay stub or W2 form from the last time you worked. If you are on medicaid you only have to bring in your medicaid card for approval. Call your local WIC office and find out for sure so you bring exactly what you need with you and don't have to go back.

    You can call your local WIC office and ask exactly what they require...that way you don't show up without the right documents and waste a trip.

    I wasn't working and they didn't ask for proof that I wasn't. I just had to bring my husband's pay stubs.

    If there's another adult living in the home and working, you need to take their paycheck stub. You also need to bring proof of residency, like a bill addressed to your home with your name on it, and you have to have identification for you and your children. If you're pregnant, you have to have proof of pregnancy.

    Even though I was *clearly* eight months pregnant when I first went to sign up for WIC, they still wanted proof of pregnancy! lol

    ~~~~Proof of Income:~~~~
    * Pay Stubs - provide the most recent paystub with “Year to Date” income listed
    * Employer’s written statement regarding weekly, monthly or annual gross income
    * Unemployment notice for VEC (Virginia Employment Commission)
    * Letter of Termination/Layoff notice from previous employer
    * Statement of Social Security benefits or other benefits for any family member
    * Military LES (Leave and Earnings Statement)
    * Foster Care statement from Social Services
    * Food Stamps - Letter of Eligibility (with case number and amount)
    * AFDC (TANF) check stub
    * Medicaid/Medicaid HMO Card for current month
    * Free or reduced school lunch - Letter of eligibility
    * Minors must provide parent’s income to determine eligibility
    ~~~Plus, if you have medicaid, you don't need any proof of income, you automatically are eligible.

    Your last income tax slip if you have one. If you have no income and have not for over a year or so, you may not need anything. If you live with someone else (mom, bf, fiance, etc) they may need to come with you to verify their income, though.

    If you are on medicaid or other form of public assistance then bring your approval letter if you have no income.

    That is how they verified me.
