dunno if it's diarrhea. past 4days,5mo old pooping 3x/day instead of d usual 2-3x/wk?
she's purely breastfed, nothing new added to my or her diet. poop still yellowish bmilk poop but has whitish stuff (like drops of glue). poop doesn't stink; still regular smell of bmilk poop. 1st 2poops 4days ago was A LOT! like she's been saving for a wk. poop after that was arnd a tablespoonful each time
she's been more irritable, but still active& doesn't look weak or dehydrated. i give her boiled water (we're in a tropical country, 38-40C/100-104F. been giving her water since 3mos). nursing her more often now. she's still peeing same number of times as b4
Q1: IS THIS CAUSE FOR CONCERN?
Q2: dunno if related. she doesn't fall asleep after nursing, wch she used to do. now she cries after nursing, i carry her upright, put her head on my shoulder &rock her to sleep. she'll still be crying/whimpering at this point.sometimes, she'll lift herself off my shoulder, arms spread eagle, crying w eyes closed. COULD IT BE TUMMYACHE FRM D POOPING PROB? [no prob w burping]
pls dont comment abt the water. i've heard all d arguments b4. i know what i'm doing :-) it's common to give water to infants in this country. you would too if you baby was sweating head to foot THE WHOLE DAY. poor bub. & no it doesn't interfere w her actual bmilk intake bec it's given frm a cup & she usually just drinks a mouthful :-)

I hope that you are giving her ONLY purified bottled water? In most countries it wouldnt even be recommended to give her water, as she gets all the liquids she needs from you... If you have given her any water besides purified bottled, she could have any number of water born illnesses, and she probably needs to go to the doc. Make sure you are boiling the water long enough. Also FYI, boiling doesnt kill absolutely everything in it, you have to bleach and boi at high temps for like an hour to do that! How much water are you giving her? She really doesnt need more than a few oz a day, even in a trpical country.
If NOT a water possiblity; then after breastfeeding 3 myself, I would say this is just normal digestive stuff. Sometimes, something you dont think will affect them will. Even a small amount of strawberries or chocolate can change the flavor. Cranberry juice gave my older dtr severe diahrea EVERY time I drank it, when I was breastfeeding her! She maybe gassy; try some mylecon gas drops, they can really help. try tylenol, rubbing her tummy gently. Sometimes for no apparent reason they just dont feel well. If her situation gets worse or does not improve in a couple days, take her to the doc, it might even be something like an ear infection or reflux?

It is not diarrhea.
Breastfed babies with diarrhea have extremely watery poops and they STINK way more than normal. It's normal for them to go from a couple times a day to only once a week. I know, that's a huge range, but it really is normal.
It is NOT cause for concern.
However, the water is more of a cause of concern. You need to learn to trust your breastmilk. Your milk is far more hydrating to her than water. Water is not advisable since your breastmilk is already 80% water. Water can take away from the calories she eats every day and can cause her irritation, and possibly do worse damage. I would avoid water until she is close to 9 months of age. Instead, nurse her more. She'll probably go through another growth spurt soon.
She doesn't fall asleep nursing anymore because she's reached a developmental milestone where she's more in tune with the world around her. It happens to all babies around 4-5 months. That's when they are way more alert and can become both distracted and more easily wake-able.
Just when we have them figured out they throw us a curve ball!

Is she eating alot of solid, well, baby food? What about rice cereal? I am a firm believer in cereal. Give her a little bit or if you already are a little more than usuall, but mix it with a fruit that isn't gassy (mainly bananas) peaches is always good. For some reason cereal makes the poop get firm, well not diareaha anyways. Also about the belly ache, yes I think the crying with arms spread out sounds like a belly ache. laydown with her and put her belly next to yours. (Both bare) and gently rub her back. My mother-in-law told me this trick. It worked for my kids. If it doesn't stop, the pooping take her to a doctor just in case. It could be the water or just a phase.

babies poop. If the poop is not watery then it is fine.
