Today is my birthday. Why do I feel so sad?

Today I made 40 something. I am so sad. Not because of my age because with age comes wisdom but because it was just another day. Nobody made me feel special today. I needed to write my feelings out and really did not have a question but I know I have to ask one so, here goes. How many people have felt this way on their birthday?

Happy Birthday Love :) Go out and treat yourself to a nice meal or buy a book and some great coffee/bikkies and chill at home. I too feel sad atm. No one remembers my b'day and I remember everyone elses. Rely on yourself for your happiness. If your not getting something from someone else-that you feel you need- than give to yourself. Be patient I believe we will meet people who make us feel special someday....Have a lovely day my dear, smile 4 me even if it is done secretly :)

Happy Belated Birthday. I hope you are still going out and treating yourself to something big that you want and deserve. I know exactly how you feel. My Birthday was just last week and I couldn't wait until that day was over. Out of frustration came my last question. I don't go around telling people, but if someone asks me I will tell them. Now for some stupid reason if I tell a person that is supposedly my friend I actually expect them to remember it. I've known this one person for years and this person asked me only a few days before my B-day when it is and afterwards this person told me they were going to mark it on there calendar. But they didn't and they forgot. A couple days later I ran into this person on my B-day and we talked for a little while and they didn't say a word. I wasn't about to bring it up. I for some reason always remember dates well and if someone has a B-day, or some other event, I for some reason at the very least buy the person a card. Every year I never look forward to it and when it arrives I am relieved when it is over. I did celebrate by buying myself a gift and if no one is going to make you feel special then you just have to find it in yourself to go out and make yourself feel special.

Explaining sadness..and the whys of it,

is so much easier to do...

    than actually being the one

that has to carry the load...

The load of sadness, in a bag

    that's made for only one.

whats going on, I just don't get it..

why do I feel this way?

    it makes me even sadder.....

I am SUPPOSED to and SHOULDN'T

    feel this pain......

    because it's my Birthday.

    Anytime we're SUPPOSED to feel

    great joy in our hearts,

    there may be....another plan,

    life is blindly throwing darts.

    Sadness takes no Holiday..

    it grows on....it must!

It's like a piece of iron, you see

    which unattended... turns to rust.

Once the rust has settled in...

it takes a strong steel brush,

the elbow grease that you will need

must be stronger than the rust....

Have I ever felt this way?

My words say that I must...

The best advice that I can give

is don't give in to rust.

  • Many, many return of the Day.Iam 54,almost 40 birthdays gone without anybody remembering it including me and after that I introduced a new rule of New dress to everyone in the family on his/her birthday. It works well and I also got a new dress on my birthdays and of course greetings. The trouble is whenever I wear a new dress, others think it my bithday.Fine, everyday is important, you know, being alive, having comforts of life, command over whatever we want to buy or freedom to do. what we want to do,knowing so many people.(so many have greeted you by answering your question)we are at the best time of earth,be happy, buy something you like or start singing or dancing or go for walking or try to run some distance.wish you very happy birthday.

I felt the same way on my birthday. I turned 22 on march 21st. I took off from work that day with a full day of fun things planned. But i think I put so much hype and expectation on the day I was setting myself up for disappointment. Nothing seemed to work out for me that day and I ended up alone and basking in my own misery. Next year I'm not going to plan anything fun and let it just pass me by. That way i wont be disappointed. In the end it really is just another day to everyone but you.

I have felt sad on my birthday before, but most of the time I feel sad the day before my birthday. I am sorry that you don't feel happy! cheer up and invite a friend over to watch a movie.

Oh man, 40. You should be sad, cause life if pretty much over for you. Especially if you are a female, cause if you are over 40 men don't want to look at you anymore. You better get a bottle of red wine and start chugging it down.

  • Mine was last week...feel same way at times..but then I remember how much I have learned and improved over the years and feel good about it all...I suppose I should say ...because we have birthdays so close together yet did not celebrate together !
