Feel like translating French into English?
Hi, just came across something on the Net; it was a tattoo on someone's side and was curious to know what it meant:
"Faut soffrir pour etre belle."

One must/has to suffer to be pretty.
A woman/A lady must/has to suffer to be pretty.
"Belle" is an adjective you use for women.
The French sentence uses an unpersonal sentence construction. Since you use "belle", I guess it deals with a woman or with a lady.

Soffrir= souffrir most likely.
The sentence means:
[You] must suffer to be beautiful.
Breaking it down...
faut means it is necessary to
souffrir is the verb meaning to suffer...
pour means for...
etre is the verb to be
belle is beautiful...
And so without the literal translation, it would be that
It is necessary to suffer to be beautiful, or
you must suffer to be beautiful
=]
