HELP! What do I wear to this bridal shower?

Question

I know NOTHING about fashion, so please help me figure out what to wear.

The shower is an 11 a.m. brunch at a very nice restaurant (not 5 stars, but 4 stars). It's all ladies. The weather is apt to be chilly spring rainy weather, and I'm inclined to bring cardigans with me wherever I go to stay warm.

I am a 40-yr-old mom of 3. I look & act a lot like Tina Fey, only my eyes are hazel, I'm not as pretty as she is and I'm a size bigger. And I've got about 0.00000009% of her wardrobe budget to work with.

Please include LINKS so I can see what you are talking about. "Floral cocktail dress" or "flirty six-gored skirt" mean NOTHING to me. I need pictures!!!! 

I also need advice in terms of hose, shoes and handbags, too. I am completely clueless, a die-hard tomboy who would wear jeans & a sweater to everything if I could. Most of my clothes come from Goodwill or Eddie Bauer clearance.

theres a really cute black/white dress @ Target.com in the product finder box type in 'merona print knit dress-black/white'
or u can try a pair of black  dress pants and a pink satin shirt w/a long necklace. a pair of black pointy toed high (1 inch) heel shoes and black bag would be cute 2. have fun!

Well i think you should wear a light pastel coloured evening dress (which ever colour you like best )which reaches down to about your knee. And as to the length of your sleeves that really depends on you! They could be long or short or even half way! You may not find the exact dress im talking about but i hope you like the thought!! it is not a social faux pas to wear white at a bridal shower. you can wear whatever color you wish to wear to the shower. white and all shades of it are reserved for the bride alone on her wedding day only..unless she is having a snowball wedding which is an all white wedding where everyone is asked to wear white or a black and white wedding which is where everyone is requested to wear either black or white. but there are not rules for the bridal shower.

i think this would look good on tina fey so it probably would look good on you... if you get something like this you'll be the most fashionable there i mean for me you will!
