How to make hair colour fade faster?

Red is very hard to get rid of. To go blonde you are going ot have to get your hair bleached/stripped...sorry. There is a new product called OOOPS that takes out hair color...you can get it at drugstores.

ugh i searched and googled and asked for some miracle shampoo that would get red dye out of my hair when i tried to dye it, came out really blotchy AND with hot roots.

turns out you can use head and shoulders, supposedly it helps fade the colour, but if the dye was permanent (as i'm assuming it is) it's not going to just get out of your hair and leave it your natural colour - it's gonna fade and become a brassy orange.

i'd say you can bleach it right now, you're gonna damage it anyway, so why wait until it grows out? even if it comes out orangey, you can use a toner...

but you should probably go to a salon to bleach it, it is a bit risky.

Yeah NEVER get your hair stripped. I had it done and my ends are all cracked and splitting like a branch!

I would say just shampoo your hair twice as much as you do now with a shampoo that says "clarifying" and does not say "sensitive" or "gentle" and is not for colored hair. Make sure you condition for 5 to 10 minutes because conditioning helps fade as well as keeps your dyed hair moist.

EDIT: Sorry Kelsey, but red is the EASIEST color to fade. My hair is dyed red and it is the hardest color to keep up with. I always have to redye it to prevent that nasty orange look. But you DEFINITELY need to get most of that color out or your hair will look orangy/pink once you try to dye it blonde. I would suggest using a semipermanent light brown color on top of the red once you get a lot of it to fade. Semipermanent is not harmful at all and usually moisturizes your hair a lot. which is GREAT. Then you can use the blonde over that.

Having died my hair numerous times and many different colours i have found two ways that can help to fade the colour of the hair.

The first being Head and Shoulders Shampoo. Its a very strong shampoo and using this daily you will defiantly notice a difference.

Secondly Washing up liquid. Using a very strong ashing up liquid can help colour fade (something to do with the stuff in it )

Wash your hair daily with a gentle shampoo alternated every other day with a clarifying shampoo. Condition as usual, and let the sun's rays do their job. Heat styling helps color fade, but it also wreaks havoc on the hair itself, so I wouldn't recommend it. Red, in my experience, is the color that fades the fastest, so you have an advantage there!

Most permanents fade enough to color over after about 3 months.

This may sound absolutelyy ridiculous but i found that head and shoulders 2 in 1 really helps colour fade, i had dark brown hair and after a few washed its light brown ready for me to dye blonde :)

Having the color stripped at the salon is the only effective way to remove color. But if you dont want to do that then I suggest using a cheap shampoo that is not for colored hair and wash your hair repeatedly. This way the most color will come out without damaging it.

First off, red is THE hardest color to fade. The only way you can get rid off it is use a double ash hair color in your hair (aa). You can strip the color yourself, go to a beauty supply and buy some bleach or a color remover. You hair will end up orange, so use an ash/green based dye on your hair to counteract the orange. You can try a clarifying shampoo, but unfortunately, your hair will just end up orange.

Wash your hair every day with a clarifying shampoo. Also, the sun helps to fade it so any extra time spent outside will help. If this doesn't give you the results you want, you might just have to dye over the previous color.

u can get a colour corrector from any beauty shop, epescially u goin blond it'l be good to have a good base to colur with, so the blond can come thru better. its a base colour, doesnt have a specific colour all it does is tone dwn previous hair colour. o'loreal does a good one for round £6 called Effasol colour removal, u can use dye after using effasol, it washes away dye even permenate dye.
