While I wouldn't go so far as to say that music literally saved my life, I would certainly say that it helped me to get through some difficult, emotionally draining times. Judging from your picture, you look quite young by the way. By the off chance that the source of your pain has anything to do with school, let me just say that it doesn't last forever, even if it feels that way to people sometimes. Please don't kill yourself. (And if what you're enduring has nothing to do with school- that stands regardless- please don't kill yourself.)

Source(s): EDIT: Lots of bands have had a profound impact on me, but one in particular that helped me cope with some of the anger and alienation I was grappling with as a teen was the Dead Kennedys. I love that band to this day.

1.) If you could be any instrument, which one and why? Piano because it's what I have always played 2.) One song to describe how you're feeling right now? Is there a song called "Bored and with a headache?" 3.) One song to describe how you feel about someone? American Idiot 4.) One band/artist that you really like/connect with...why? Fratellis...They are incredible, simple. 5.) One you think shouldn't exist? Miley Cyrus 6.) One genre you love and one you hate? Love: Indie or Rock Hate: Dance 7.) If you were in a band, what part would you be? Keyboardist! 8.) Last gig you went to? Fratellis 9.) Has a song ever really made you feel a certain emotion, which song? Ha, when I first watched Titanic, the song My Heart Will Go On made my cry...Ha, but now it's the song by Eric Clapton about his son dying. 10.) Describe your taste in music in 5 words. Um...Scottish Indie Unintelligble Rock

No, but there have been a few bands throughout the years like Poison, Culture Club, The Dave Matthews Band and Pearl Jam that have made me contemplate being sacrificed as a far better alternative. Plus, I keep putting in requests for Gerard to save me like he's done for countless others. My calls remain ignored.

On a serious note, bands don't save lives, bands don't take lives. Only us as the individual holds that type of power. It's about time we start learning how to take blame and accept credit instead of attributing it to silly outside factors.

Prof - Stephen Malkmus applying the heimlich, LMAO. Tell me it was at an In-And-Out Burger.

No. There have been bands like Nine Inch Nails, Stabbing Westward, The Cure, A Perfect Circle, and Korn who assisted me in getting through some tough emotional times. But save my life? No. I hate when people make over-dramatic statements like "This band saved my life!" Music is powerful and amazing, but if all it takes is a band to change your mind about living or dying, than you were probably never serious about suicide in the first place.

The band Everclear is something I think should be required listening in high school. Their lyrics actually mean something and the music isn't bad either. It wouldn't be bad for teens to get handed the blunt truth through music.

edit: And I so agree with GK.

    Alice in Chains - "Brother"

In late '95 my girlfriend (who was pregnant) was killed in a car accident. I wouldn't say I was giving any real thought to suicide, but I was pretty well in a severe state of depression, and that night to help clear my head I turned on my stereo and put it on shuffle. Brother was the first song that played and the lyrics really helped me to cope, and the fact it came on first really freaked me out in a good way.

I think every band I've listened to has definitely changed my life. I also think artists like John Lennon have impacted my life, maybe saved it, who knows?

    Good Question

For me Linkin Park did. I was going through a rough patch for reasons I care not to explain. Their lyrics kinda told me that I wasn't alone in the stuff I was going through. To this day I am thankful for what their music has done for me.

    Good question too.
