What does it mean when a guy keeps inturrupting a girl's conversations with others?

There is this kid in my grade (I'm a sophomore in h.s.) whom I've never spoken to, and lately I've noticed that he keeps popping up out of nowhere and trying to become involved with my conversations with my friends. I've also noticed that he looks at me a lot and smiles a lot whenever I'm around. And he's very loud when I'm around as well. Could he be interested in me?
