ignition problem with toyota tacoma 2001?

never had a warning of any problems starting, has a newer nappa battery , original owner, doesnt even click when you turn the key but the battery reads 12.6 volts,i thought it might be the starter /solenoid which is integral with the starter and changed it out but, that aint it so whats left? a bad ground? starter relay? or computer?terminals are clean at battery. the dash lights came up slowly the last time i tried to start it then faded then came back up, and then i turned the key and heard silence......

battery has a bad cell not enough cca's

Earlier post is probably right...check the battery first. Have someone try to crank car and watch voltage with load on. If nothing happens but voltage drops, battery is bad. With the lights fading like that, there is a connection but either the voltage is going away or a connection is bad. Put positive lead of volt meter on NEGATIVE terminal (right on the battery) and the negative lead on the engine block. Have someone crank the engine. Meter should read less than .2V. If it reads a lot (.5V or more) your connection to the block is bad. Do the same to a good ground on the body, and the results should be the same. IF they are too high, go looking for the connections and clean them.

If you can't find it, let us know and we'll try again.

    Hope this helps. God Bless!

what u should try to do is check were the starter is and try to hit the solenoid and try crankin it up. if if does turn on its most likely to be the starter, but dont hit it to hard just like a couple of taps. and also might wanna follow ur battery cable to see everythin is tight enough.

You might even be having a problem with your factory alarm anti theft system. try getting out of the truck manually lock the doors (with key not keypad or button) then unlock the door after about 30 seconds with the KEY and see if she doesnt fire right up.

the mild comes on even as its below 12v or so i believe. *edit - checked autozone, regulator is inner, verify the connections on the alternator, starter, battery verify to work out if any corrosion is on them, must be effective to have a volt meter to ascertain the volts and amps the alternator is generating, per chance getting weak no matter if it truly is a reman from a factors save, dunno what percentage stuff I easily have taken lower back 3-8 months after paying for for failing.
