Does anyone know when Freddie Mercury's ex lover turned chef Joe Fanelli died?

I think it was 2 years after Freddie died.

I heard he died in 1993, according to Peter Freestone's book i think,where he mentioned that Joe was going to buy a small hotel with the money that Freddie had left him,£500,000. It was also stated that Joe was not looking too well and that it was the last time Peter saw him before he died in that year of Aids,after becoming fully-blown in 1990.I seem to remember catching sight of an Ebay newspaper cutting reporting Joe's death with the headline along the lines of, Freddie Mercury's chef dies of Aids or along those sensationalist lines.
