I am a complete lover of Freddie Mercury. A true genius and a unique rock star who changed the world for all the better. Miss him everyday. I listen to his music almost exclusively. His music takes me from my highest highs to my lowest lows. One can feel his spirit alive today, in the music and videos he left to us. The day he died the world grew colder, but in his music I find solace.

  • Mt. Pilatus from Lucerne with Eurail Pass?

    Hi,

I am going to be in Lucerne for 2 days. I will be arriving by train on the first day, staying in a hotel nearby the station. On my second day I want to go to Mt Pilatus, via the lake steamer to Alpnachstad, to the cog wheel. Returning via the train to Kriens, busing back to Lucerne. I don't know where I can buy tickets with a eurail pass, where they will give me the discount. Do all providers honor eurail passholders? Where do I board the steamer? Could someone tell me how to do it step by step. I have limited time in Lucerne and need to make the most of it. Also how long will the whole trip take with a visit up on Pilatus? Should I plan an 8 hr day? Or is 4 hours enough?

  • Canon t2i questions help?

    Hi,

I just bought a Canon T2i for an upcoming trip and suffice to say.. I am overwhelmed. I need some advice on a some information regarding lenses, filters, lcd protectors. I currently have the 18-55 lens that came with the camera when I purchased it last week. So far, I am not thrilled. Far away photography is so washed out and not crisp. I would like a lens with IS since I have a shakier stance.

Is there a good not heavy lens that can do both portraits and landscapes, making lens changing less often?

Also, I was told I needed to purchase an ultraviolet lens protector? Is this correct? Does it help with image quality?

I am looking for a plastic LCD protector for the t2i, since the screen is different than the t2i, I cannot use existing lcd protectors. Any suggestions?

Can I purchase all these things in a kit, available online or in stores? Also any websites with assistance on shooting tips for the t2i would be appreciated.

    Thank you so very much.

  • CANON T2I SDHC CARD CHOICE?

I just purchased a Canon t2i for a 5 week trip. I need to know what memory card and class I need for the camera to work accurately. I see it needs at least a class 6 for video. Since I will be gone for so long I was looking for a large capacity card. I prefer sandisk, as I have used them in the past and currently have a sandisk ultra II 4 gb sdhc card for my other camera. Can someone give me some tips and or links to cost effective solutions. SDHC cards are so expensive.

  • Italy to Sicily to Paris?

    Hi,

I am going to France, Switzerland and Italy this fall. I will be arriving in France at CDG. Then after a week heading onto Switzerland and Italy with the second to last leg being in Tuscany. I would like to avoid driving down three hours to Rome to catch a flight to Sicily the last portion of my trip before heading home to the USA via Paris to catch my connecting flight. Here are my questions.

    1. What is the best airport to fly to Sicily from Tuscany: Florence, Pisa or Bologna?

    2. What city is the best to land in in Sicily: Palermo or Catania?

    3. What is the best city from Sicily to fly into Paris from?

Note: Should I do an open jaw? Is it cheaper that way?

  • Point to Point train tickets?

    Hi,

After much planning, I have decided on the details to my European trip in Sept 2010. I will be leaving Paris after one week and travel to Dijon(Beaune) and onto Montreux Switzerland and onto Milan, Italy within a span of 5 days. There are three of us, one adult and 2 seniors. We need a TGV train from Paris to Beaune(we will stay here 2 days) then a TGV to Montreux from Beaune(another 2 days), then a train from Montreux to Milan. So three trips, three people. First class only. How do we get the best rates? So many sites out there. Also do we need to reserve seats? How long ahead of time? Is a pass cheaper? Thanks!!!

  • Eurorail choices for France/Switzerland/Italy?

Hi, I am going to be traveling in France.Switzerland and Italy very soon. I am going to Paris for one week. After Paris, I am taking the train with two other adults to Luzern for two nights, then onto Montreux for 2 nights, then onto Varenna via Milan. Is it cheaper for me to buy point to point tickets, use a saver pass or a swiss pass or combination of the above. Also can you combine rail passes with use of the Paris metro or do I need another pass or just buy a pack of 10 carnets as I go each day. I am not excited by how much it cost to train two hours and even the train is not high speed. Any high speed trains go from Paris to Luzern? On the lyrica it takes 3 hrs and 32 minutes. I was going to go to Dijon for two days prior to Montreux but wanted more time in the lakes so I am choosing to see Luzern, Montreux and Lake Como. Any advice? Prices and ideas?

P.S Anyone with hotel ideas in both Montreux and Luzern?

  • Eurorail question/France.Switzerland/Italy?

There are three of us traveling from the following places.

1 Paris-Dijon (one day of travel)

2 Dijon-Montreux, Switzerland (one day of travel)

    3 Montreux-Lugano(one day of travel)

4 Lugano-Varenna(lake como) one day of travel)

5 Varenna to Milan, Italy(one day of travel.

Right now Eurorail is offering a 3 for 2 saver pass for three people(3 of us are all traveling together.) for 768.00 usd. Is it cheaper to buy point to point tickets and get 2nd class for three people or buy the 3 country saver pass 3 for 2 deal for 768.00 for 3 people 5 days in 3 countries? Also if you know how I can travel to these places for cheaper could you let me know. ie buying point to point tickets in the train station when there.

  • Paris in one week/Metro/Museums/RER?

    Hi,

I will be traveling to Paris for the first time with two other people. I was wondering if someone could give me advice on a week suggested Itinerary. We will be staying in the 4th arrondissement. I want to maximize our daily trips as we dont want to be going from Point A to Point Z, but be more efficient in our travel around the city. Also what is the best either combination of tickets or separtely of the metro and museum passes. We plan on a trip to Versailles as well. So that is out of zone 1-2. Also, we are traveling to Dijon after leaving paris. Is there a cheaper ticket that we can use to get us out of Paris or should we buy a tgv second class ticket? Since there are three of is it better to buy a tgv saver pass? This is kind of a two parter question. Thanks for any advice in advance.

  • Canon Dust Sensor SLRs?

I am very interested in purchasing a Canon slr which has a dust sensor. It is one of my primary reasons for looking into the Canon line because of this and other neat features. Are the dust sensors on Canon slrs hype or are they really a functional aspect that one should look for when buying a camera(SLR). I am looking into also Nikon slrs but alas Nikon doesnt have this technology. What do you think? I would appreciate your input. Thank you so much.
