Sharing some good news (APBT)?

You might or you might not know but I love APBTs but since I live in England I can not own one nor have I ever met a purebred APBT , I have met A few mixes but never the real thing.

This breed was the breed that made me fall in love with dogs and when ever and where ever I can I try to educate people about them in the UK. I am know by all my friends to have a big go at any one that says "pitbulls are vicious , yer Im going to get one and not train it and make it rough" you get the point I LOVE them , more than love.

Me and the rest of my family all donate a lot to the Best friends animal sanctuary especially the Vick dogs down there.

We are going to Vegas ,we emailed best friends and asked whether we can come in and have a look around and we got there message and they said yes. So we will drive to Utah form vegas.

Update:

I will get to meet my first American Pitbull terrier!. I started crying so much , finally after 10 years I get to meet them. This might seem a bit silly but I have dreamt of this for so long ,

(Just thought I would share my joy)

(question posted below)

When did you first fall in love with “your” breed , why? And what breed?

The trip is in August.

Update 2:

I have been researching them since I was ten.

Update 3:

Nekai - awwh I always felt sorry for the wolf as well , with me I am terrified of worms (yes worms I do not even eat spaghetti) but I love snakes :)

Update 4:

SugarChi... - That’s why I live by this saying "the only animal that loves you more than itself is a dog" I thought I was adopted because I was the only person in my family that loved animals

Thats wonderful you will absolutely LOVE the Best Friends Sanctuary I have been there many times, vollenteered there and absolutely fell in love with the place, though the AMOUNT of animals is over whelming and heart breaking. Alot of celebrites love to visit there too you might bump into one. There are many many APBT there you will just be in heaven I will tell ya!!! some days there are 500 to 800 dogs (not all APBT's of course) there so enjoy! I've always been in love with Cardigan Welsh Corgi's since the time my uncle started breeding them for show. He had Pembrokes but I wanted something diffrent and I LOVE the merle colors and they only come in Cardigans so thats where I fell in love with them.

This really is a heartwarming story and I'll bet you will have a BLAST on your vacation.

How great it must feel to have your dream come true. :)

I have a few favorite breeds (Labs and Australian Shepherds) but I am just crazy about ALL animals. I can't kill ANYTHING, not even a spider. My parents always told me that since I was a kid I could watch movies where people die, but not animals. I would cry for days. I don't want to sound like I don't like people, because I do. I just don't like them as much as animals (dogs in particular). People lie, cheat, steal and criticize. What dogs do you know that do that? :)

The people I get along with the most are people who share my love for animals. Thats why I am on here so much. :)

Edit- Ulva Child, I am glad we feel the same way!

  • What a heartwarming story. Good for you. I'm sure you will have a great time. I can't really say I have a breed, or when or how I fell in love with them but I knew all my life I wanted to work with animals, so when I answered a newspaper ad for a veterinary receptionist, and fell in love with animals all over again, and the idea of helping them, I got my nurses training and stayed with the same vet in work study. Was there until I became disabled. Over 27+ years, plus 5 years as a vet receptionist. Now, I'm on here, just trying to help from my wheelchair.

Actually there is already a BSL ban of pits in the city of Lawrenceville which has been place for a while now. You would have to own & move in before the ban to be grandfathered in. You can discuss with an attorney whether you can stop home sale as that may be an option which you won't lose down payment Your best option is to speak with attorney before going forward. If it doesn't pass this time, it could in the future.

Oh this is such a nice post! Congrats! I'm so happy for you. I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip.

I fell in love with labs after meeting the one owned by a friend of my from HS. I ended up dating her older brother all through college and spent tons of time in their house playing with their dog Brandy. He was a perfect lab. Sweet, loved to retrieve (he would go get the afternoon paper from the end of their driveway every day) and just a great dog.

I decided that when I graduated I would get a lab - and I did. I've had them ever since.

I love love love those dogs.

not silly at all my friend :). pit bulls are a rewarding breed to get to know and a great breed to have as a companion. I would go nuts in a country with out them. Who knows maybe someday you will move to the us or a country that allowed pit bulls and be able to own one. For now though do all the research you can and help the breed out over in the u.k

Awww that is wonderful news!!! I'm so happy for you :D

I fell in love with (not a breed) wolves when I first heard the story "The Three Little Pigs", I'd always cry when it came to the part of putting the wolf in the boiling pot over the fire!

Hmmm... I'm afraid of pigs, and I LOVE wolves... interesting ;)

Anyhow, that's how my parents tell the story, and the rest is history!
