Have you ever had a pickled egg? Are they any good?

My co-worker brought in some pickled eggs. They look like reddish-purple and they're sitting in some red liquid. Should I try one?

Update:

I do like eggs... and I like beets... so should I expect some weird hybrid beet-egg tasting thing?

Update 2:

Well, I ate one. It wasn't bad. The outside was a little rubbery which I didn't like but the yolk just tasted like beet flavored yolk. I felt like there should've been something to go with it. I don't think I'd ever make them myself but they were ok.

Yes, go ahead and try one. In the U.K. you can buy pickled eggs in our 'pubs' to eat while having a beer. Experimenting with food is always a good thing as you could be missing out on something delicious.

They are red-beet pickled eggs. They are one of my grandfather's favorite things to make. A lot of people in my family love them.

I don't care for pickled eggs though. I think the vinegar gives the whites a rubbery consistency.

They have most likely been pickled with beet juice from pickled beets . I like them, but they may be an acquired taste.

They are good. You pickle then in Pickled beet juice. The longer you leave them in the juice, the darker they get. I like to leave them over night, sometimes 2 nights.

I actually was going to try one yesterday! They had them in the gas station store... but they looked so gross that I decided not to... and after reading the other users comments about they being in vinegar and the whites being rubbery... I think i'll stay away! My advice to you, if you try them take a small bite to test taste :)

If you like eggs, and you like things pickled - somewhat sour even, you should try them. They are really good
