Why would anybody use things like evidence and reason to support their beliefs when it's easier to just lie?
$andman: You're right... I should have said "defend their beliefs" and not "support their beliefs."

If you have faith, those pesky facts and evidence don't matter anyway.
All the evidence under the sun can't trump "faith".

You are wrong, Theists put absolutely no evidence forward to support their belief that there is a god and in fact the belief relies entirely on faith alone, there is however evidence to support a belief in a god because there are plenty of people that actually do, Atheists are not convinced by the argument that Theists put forward because there is nothing to back up the claim, on the other hand, it is the Theists that are not convinced by the argument that Atheists put forward but at least the evidence has quite a lot of factual evidence to support it, my main problem with Theists is not that they believe in a god but it is their continual assumption that I should also believe it, if they could just stop asking us about why we don`t share their faith then we would not need to keep telling them why we don`t.

You're leaving out the other options. You don't have to 'lie' in order so support beliefs that don't include evidence and reason, you simply have to be willing to suspend evidence and reason in order to believe.

Some people feel uncomfortable with the idea of lying.
It is said that they are possessed by a Demon called "Morality".
I feel sad for them that they cannot live like the rest, and take the easy path.

What if evidence pointed to you as a murderer however you were in fact innocent?
Even evidence can be misleading if we have are minds made up to what we want the conclusion to be.

Jesus asks us not to lie, that is why. It is always better to follow the Truth, Jesus Christ.
He did not promise us an easier way, but He showed us what is the only Way.

It's so easy to just use "evidence" and "reason," isn't? No cares, no worries, just solid facts.
It takes real strength of conviction to vaguely feel something in your heart and uphold it like the TRUTH.

I agree it's not worth trying to justify your beliefs to anyone. People should just live in their faith, and be one with God, with their spirtuality, or what ever it is that they practice. Let me just tell you that no one can ever have the words or evidence to explain what it feels like to be totally content and happy in God. I see how it can totally be unnerving for those who have never known it. God Bless.
