about jesus and god (two-separate beings)?

1: can you give me the scripture that says that jesus was one with his apostles?

2: now, can we apply that when he said that, he meant one in PURPOSE. wouldn't that mean that when he said he was one with god, he meant in PURPOSE, not in physical being?

    John 17:11 - This is where Jesus is praying to the Father (not praying to himself) on behalf of his apostles. He says:

    "And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, AS WE ARE. "

    In other words, however Jesus and the Father are one, that's how Jesus wants to apostles to be as well. If Jesus and the Father are one in essence, then that means Jesus is praying that the apostles would be one in essence. There's no way around that. If Jesus meant that the apostles would be one in PURPOSE, then that means Jesus and the Father are one in purpose because Jesus said, "that they may be one, AS WE ARE."

    And it gets better. Later on in His prayer to the Father, Jesus says (John 17:20-21):

    "20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;

    21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. "

    Let me repeat: "that they may be one; AS THOU, FATHER, ART IN ME, AND I IN THEE, THAT THEY ALSO MAY BE ONE IN US." You can't have it both ways. You can't say Jesus and the Father are one in essence, but that He was praying that the apostles be one in purpose. However, Jesus and the Father are one, he wants the apostles to be one IN THE SAME WAY. Unless you believe Jesus wants the apostles to become one essence, this OBVIOUSLY means that Jesus wants the apostles to be one in PURPOSE, just as Jesus and the Father are one...IN PURPOSE.

    Answering your first question only: The dogma of the Trinity is that there are three distinct and separate PERSONS in ONE God. God the Son, as the second person in this Trinity which always existed even before creation, assumed human nature in the form of Jesus. Therefore, Jesus is BOTH God and real man. However, Jesus is, by Himself, totally God, He is not God all by Himself to the exclusion of the other two persons. Each person co-equally shares in the Divine Nature since there is no such thing as 1/3 of god. The human nature of Jesus is inferior to God. Jesus in one with God in both purpose and as the second person of the Trinity.

    The Father is obviously called God as seen throughout the Bible. No one will argue that point. So there is one member of the Trinity, the Father. Jesus the Son, is a separate person but He is also called God. John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Titus 2:13 says, "Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Christ Jesus." So here we see clearly, the Son is also called God. The means go past just "one with purpose" in these verses but goes to one in essence.

    We do not "see clearly" that Jesus and GOD are the same in Titus 2:13. That little word "and" makes all the difference in the world in separating the two and making them distinct and unique, not the same. John made it clear that Jesus cannot be GOD when he told us that "no man has seen GOD at any time".

    I know this is confusing for you - it is hard for humans to understand God... Besides, who would want to worship a God that could be fully comprehended? He is too great for our minds - but here are the scriptures you are looking for.

    and yes Jesus and God are ONE in purpose - but also Jesus said, I and the Father are ONE!

    I hope you find the following helpful. *There are so many scriptures that proven the Holy Trinity that I don't have time to list them all - but this will get you started!

    John 1:1

    1 In the beginning was the Word,a and the Word was with God,b and the Word was God.c

    If the Word is Jesus (and it’s capitalized so we know it means God) then this is saying aJesus always was - in the beginning when God was here. b Then it says Jesus was with God (if it doesn’t mean Jesus then why doesn’t it just say God was always here – how can he be with himself?) c Finally Jesus was God.

    John 1:14

    14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

    We know that only Jesus became flesh – not God – so here the Word has to mean Jesus.

    1 John 1:1

    1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

    Again only Jesus was from the beginning and made human so that we could see him and lay hands on him.

    1 John 5:7

    7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. This is the hardest evidence I can find that the trinity exists!

    Revelation 19:13

    13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called the Word of God.

    Jesus is the one whos blood was shed – so this has to be Jesus.

    So far I have found around 50 verses confirming the Holy Trinity - If you would like them all please contact me!

    Jesus, The Son and Jehovah, The Father are as one because they are in total agreement with each other as is The Holy spirit...They are God the Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit of God..They are Godkind as we are mankind...

    Ephesians 4;4-There is one body,and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling,one Lord< one faith, one baptism,one God and Father of all,and through all,and in you all.

    Jesus Christ is the "Spirit of God" in the flesh!

    He is also the Spirit of God that lives within us to this very day,..for those who choose to believe!

    Jesus and God are Two-of-One who share the same "purpose" for all mankind!

    That we should not perish and come to know them,.. that we may be in them and they may dwell in us!

    I think you are looking for John 17, particularly verses 11, 21-23.

    you mean the one about washing their feet?

    or do you mean where jesus is gods son in the sense of being the heir of the father, and not in the sense of being a child of the father?

    Im pretty well read in the bible, and if Im reading your question right, I dont believe there is a versus that say Jesus was One with his apostles. If it does, which Im kinda certain it doesn't, your thinking, (depending on the exact context though) I would say to be correct.

    When it comes to applying God and Jesus these might help,

    Joh 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

    Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

    1co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

    1co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

    I will say this, as much as it may be a little confusing, try not to look deeper then what it is, people sometimes miss the point looking for another answer. i look at it like this, birds see, cats, dogs, bugs, whatever has eyes sees the world in a different way, they see things we dont, we see things they dont, for instances cats see at night right, well then maybe our vision is limited, theres things we just dont see, according to the bible, all things will come to light and be revealed

    And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

    1ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

    1ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

    1ti 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.

    1ti 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

    1ti 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

    1ti 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

    1ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall show, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

    1ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

    1ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

    1ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;

    1ti 6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.

    1ti 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:

    1ti 6:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

    Listen carefully to what Paul is telling Timothy, this is the world your living in. Hope this Helps.
