Ladies: Not just a yes and no q: Best chick flick EVER and why?
I love sappy, girly, romantic, etc. movies. And my husband will actually watch them with me. We've seen them all! Best answer to whoever gives us a great movie to watch (that we haven't seen yet) AND convinces us why we should watch it!
I think that bears repeating: "and my husband will actually watch them with me".
Yes, i'm thankful for him. :)
Also, i apologize for the challenge. I know to say "give us a movie we haven't seen" and not tell you what we HAVE seen seems stupid, but we are movie buffs and have seen ALOT of movies, so even if it's common and popular, it will be cool to see how many movies that we have enjoyed get good reviews.
P.S. The reason i put this in this in this category and not 'Movies', is because I figured there were more women (and intelligent ones at that) wanting to give thier advice in the marriage category than the movie category!
dreamgetter: read the book, liked it, but thought 'The Wedding' (not really a sequel, but about Noah and Allie's children) was WAY better. Can you tell me what it is that YOU liked about this movie? (remember, i'm trying to convince a MAN to watch this with me)

I generally avoid chick movies, so I'm not sure this one qualifies, but I really loved this movie. What Dreams May Come w/ Robin Williams & Cuba Gooding, Jr.
The perfect couple lose their children, then the wife loses the husband who winds up in heaven. The place is more beautiful than he ever could have imagined. The problem is the wife commits suicide and goes to hell. He risks everything on the outside chance that he can reach her and bring her out. There are demons to battle and her pain which she keeps torturing herself with. The cinematography is just as gripping as the concept.
Most people are raised to be married. We spend our whole lives imagining who and why and how great it will be when we find that person. The possibility that everyone has a soulmate and that you could find that one and live happily ever after keeps all of us seeking love and companionship. This probably sounds kind of sad, but I want to be in one of those couples that you hear about dying within months of each other. They are so attuned and the pain of loss is so great they can't live without each other. Awesome.
Some of my other favorites: Phenomenon (Travolta, Sedgewick), Sleepless in Seattle-classic rip of An Affair to Remember

I choose Fried Green Tomatoes. My reasoning for this is because the movie has you moving and shaking from one emotion to the next with no warning. You will be angry, you will laugh hysterically and maybe p a little. You will cry and of course their are the "just downright absurd, couldn't happen in the real time" kinda stuff. Guys will stay interested with the suspense and bit of action and shouldn't fall asleep or claim it is too "girlie" and how would he be able to claim he still carries a big stick if he watched that movie. And it won't make a woman barf in her house plant because the woman in the film have been demeaned to worthless housewifes with no opinions, no lives and only want what their husbands or menfolk want.

"The Notebook"
The Notebook is an epic love story centered around an older man who reads aloud to an older, invalid woman whom he regularly visits. From a faded notebook, the old man's words bring to life the story about a couple who is separated by World War II, and is then passionately reunited, seven years later, after they have taken different paths. Though her memory has faded, his words give her the chance to relive her turbulent youth and the unforgettable love they shared.
As teenagers, Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) begin a whirlwind courtship that soon blossoms into tender intimacy. The young couple is quickly separated by Allie's upper-class parents who insist that Noah isn't right for her. Several years pass, and, when they meet again, their passion is rekindled, forcing Allie to choose between her soul mate and class order. This beautiful tale has a particularly special meaning to an older gentleman (James Garner) who regularly reads the timeless love story to his aging companion (Gena Rowlands).

The Lake House
Its a romantic movie about love in the past, present and future. Sandra bullock is a great actress in it and it made me cry at the end.

There's a few....
Notting Hill
Hugh Grant is gorgeous, and i love julia roberts and the bit that makes it is the line " i'm just a girl, standing infront of a boy, asking him to love her" AWWWW
and the notebook, because it would have to be one of the most beautiful stories i've ever seen in my life.

Pearl Harbor: this happens to be one of my favorite movies. it's a tail of a classic romance set in a time of war that complicated the lives of 3 individuals. it shows the ups and downs of a friendship and the bitter sweet emotions of love. its a film sure to bring up emotions like joy in your heart to tears in your eyes. i highly recommend it even if you've seen it before because its the type of movie that you'll never get tired of and one that is just as good as it was the first time you saw it. -- nina

This is tough for me because I like "guy flicks" and mostly prison films LOL! Okay, Jerry Maguire & Bridget Jones are all I've got.
