what size machine screws secure a power outlet to the box?

Just installed some new 120v outlets but the machine screws supplied with the power outlets are too long- does anyone know what size they are?

    plug switch boxes-6x32

    fixture boxes-8x32 or 10x32

    Usually 10-24 or 10-32 but you can just cut them too size...

    I think they are 10-28. Just take a pair of cutters and cut them off, they will work just fine afterward. That's what I always did.

    Get one of these tools it strips the wires and cuts those screws to size
