The national language in Kenya is both Kiswahili and English. so you find most people are familiar with Kiswahili which is not had to learn if interested.

Maybe we can start with a few:

    Habari - Hallo

    Mzuri - Its ok

    Maji - Water

    Chakula - Food

    Try that for now.

    Most do

alot of the older ones especially in the rural areas only speak their indigenous languages.

I speak English, my native born language, and a little Swahili

I thinkmots of them speak swalhili, unless its people that are foreigners just working in kenya. But you tend to pick up the language once you spend time in the country. English is also one of the main languages though.

Almost all kenyans can speak kiswahili though not fluently. Its easily understood and most illeterate people mix it with mother tongue and one still gets the message across. Foreigners too learn useful words quite fast since its easy to pronounce as well
